Insurance Question

First I would like to say that I am not sure where I should post this question, but if its in the wrong forum, mods feel free to move it.

My questions is anyone know that if you have a lip kit and you get into an accident, will the insurance also pay for the lip kit or they will only pay for the bumper?
Thanks

show reciepts of what it cost if you have full coverage you should be covered... they might try to get around it but stick it to them and you'll be fine

what if i don't have the receipt?
I mean if i crashed my car or something, I wouldn't really care 'cause its my fault... BUT what if someone hits my car and kills my lip kit, then would the insurance company from the other party pay for it? its would probably be obvious that the kit is on the car during the accident 'cause it would probably be all messed up. would they pay for it even if i don't have receipt?

I am insured with AAA, but i am just asking, not in an accident.
i am just wondering tho.. i mean they can't say its not on my car right? 'cause clearly its on it if its got "smashed in" if another car hit me. so i wanna know if the other party would cover it incase of accident.

According to my agent. only factory parts are covered unless you have a rider!
This is using your own insurance, as for others, they are to replace your car to the same condition as before!

what's a rider? as in passenger?

so for the other party, they will replace everything before the accident, right? even with lip kits and stuff, right? and how do they get the price quotes for the kit if its not oem?

Rider = insurance add-on = more $
It is up to you to prove what was on the car, ect. Pics work great, but don't expect to recover any installation costs.( If you keep every receipt you have a better chance)

I also heard that if you have a turbo or NOS and you get into a wreck and you did not say that you had this type of modifications they would not cover any part of the claim not even you car. Is this true anyone know??

a rider is the same as an endorsment, it extends coverage to additional items or above the standard limits. In an accident if you are at fault and do not have "customization" coverage then the car will be repaired to the factory condition, customization coverage is usually pretty cheap depending on how much coverage you want or need. If your not at fault in an accident, it the other insurance company is responsible to repair the vehicle to the condition it was in before. you would need to find out how much your accessories cost, but you can get that from the manufacturer or an body shop usually. Also, one thing most people dont know, if you have a system in your car, the head unit and any speakers in the factory locations will be covered, but any add ons like subs, amps, relocated head units, and video screens typically will not be covered if stolen or damaged in an accident. You can add a rider, or endorsement, it is referred to as coverage for "excessive sound producing equipment" 500 or 1000 in coverage is usually a between 100 and 300 a year. there are a lot of loopholes and its the adjusters job to find them if something happens. if you got anymore questions hit me up, im an insurance agent licensed in 48 states, so if i dont know, i can find out.

ok, two questions
1. so if i got a lip kit and someone hit me, then the other party will have to pay for the kit, right? i just gotta tell the adjuster and give them for the price for a brand new one?
2. what u say add-on (sub, amp, touch-screen, etc) will not be cover in an accident, u mean if you are at fault right? if the other party is at fault, they will need to cover it right?

1. Yes the other company is responsible for the repairs to your vehicle to put it back in the condition it was prior to the accident.
2. That is correct, if the other party is at fault then your good to go. If you are then you better hope you had the extra coverages

Hey Soonercivic, I live in KY and have a custom paint job. If somebody hit my car and effed it up, would their insurance company have to pay to restore my paint to it's former glory?

yes, as long as its the other persons fault then they are responsible to restore it to its condition before the accident. now sometimes if you both have the same insurance your company will try to get out of it because they know you dont have the coverage. now at the same time, if the repairs, including the custom work, exceeds the blue book value of the car then they will most likely total it out. typically in that case you can get the book value plus the custom work value. in any case, they will try to screw you, its their job. as long as you can prove how much the custom work cost then you should be fine.

what about if you have a turbo can they deney the claim if it is your fault because a turbo adds alot of hp making it a much faster car than they agreed to insure you under

no not just because of that, but they wont pay for the turbo if its your fault. also, for those of you who race your car, any type of organized racing is not covered under a standard auto policy.

well you can add different dollar amounts, you can have as much or as little as you want. its not specific to any one item, and actually its really not that expensive. Also if you add it you can have it covered under collision, comprehensive, or both so that would make it a little cheaper if you just chose one.
