Virginia Noise laws

I have been searching for Freakin hours. I'm trying to find either the noise ordinance for local or city areas. Because I looked thru the inspection laws that I could find and now where does it say you cant have an aftermarket exhaust and they say they dont inspect it by db level either. So I want to make sure what the db level is in housing areas and stuff. I know if cali your exhaust cant be over 95 db. So if anyone can tell me what the db level for residential areas are. I would greatly appreciate it.

I went through the Virginia motor vehicle laws and, from what I can tell, if an officer thinks your exhaust is unreasonably loud, he or she can legally ticket you. If you're really concerned, you should pick up the phone book and just call the local police stations and ask them directly.

Yeah I'm pretty much screwed. But I found all the info right after I posted this thread. I hate Va. Laws I think I'm going to write SEMA and see what they can do about trying to get the law changed. They have some program that trys to help with those things I think it is called SEMA SAN.

Go for it. SEMA's already worked with Virginia lawmakers to get rules for older autos changed.

My friend with 350z and (used to have) an exhaust revved his car in front of cops all the time. His Z is pretty damn loud....and he hasn't been ticketed.

I wish Civics got the same respect that 350Zs and other $30k+ cars get.
