It could very from state to state.
But average here is about $10 for every MPH over the posted speed limit.
As insurance is concerned, I'm not sure.

I got a 68 in a 30 in NC - I wasn't paying attention when the speed changed from 65 to 30. I'd never been there before! Just so you all know, cops in NC LOVE to use unmarked cars...I was pissed, but if I were a cop, I'd probably do it too!
As far as insurance went, because I'm from NY, I paid the ticket by mail. My points on my license went up, but my insurance company never found out because it happened outside of the state (thank god!)

I got a ticket one time last year going 95 in a 70. I knew I was busted and the cop was comming from the opposite direction. As soon as he turned his lights on, I didn't even try to play dumb. I pulled over right away and had everything waiting for him. He was cool though. He only wrote me up for doing 78 in a 70 zone.

I got owned for 94 in a 65, fortunatly it was close by, and my friend's dad who is a lawer made a plea agreement for me and i ended up paying almost $600, but the ticket was changed to a non moving violation and that $600 is all i'll ever have to pay for it, no insurnace increase no points or whatever they put on ur license, etc. I dont even know anything about the point system and all those deals.. I got extremely lucky, would have been cheaper(at the time not overall) to have just paid my ticket, but I wonder after years of insurance increases how much it would have been, atleast in the thousands.. but I won't be driving that fast anymore.. most i ever do is the occasional 80-85 in big cities when im flowing w/ traffic..

I got owned a while back for 95 in 55..for a total $200 plus court costs($50)
I got a laywer so I only got supervision on that and it stayed on my record
oh yeah...$120 for the lawyer which brings the grand total to $370
laywers are alwyas well worth it if the insurance doesnt get involved

Get a lawyer to plead for diferred ajudication(sp??). Around here they charce $50 per offence & work pretty well. You will have to pay the fine & they will put you on like a 3-6 month "probation", just dont get any tickets in that particular city untill your off it, theyll drop the charges & itll never hit your record.
Speaking from experiance...out of 4 tickets so far, 0 have hit my record

Yea I live in Fort Worth and there are always cops out on the roads. I think the DFW are inforces traffic laws really well, but they are about to switch to that stupid points system. Anyways, my friend's mom is an attorney for my county and I always go through her. Pay her like $40 and then a discounted ticket price (normally like half of the original fine) and I get 90 days probation. As long as I don't get a moving violation in my county for those 90 days then its off my record. I never have to go to court once.

Sometimes I do runs on the freeway almost up to 100mph at night. If I ever get caught somehow, man that would suck. This is when there's no traffic btw.
