Just recently I received a ticket for going 18 mph over the speed limit. The thing about this car tried to race me and he end up taking off while i slowly took off because my radar detector was going off. The cops flipped his lights on and i seen the car ahead make a quick left turn. When the cop made his turn around and caught up to me he gets me instead. I explained to him that i was going abot 5-6 mph over the speed limit and told me i was going 18 over. I think the reason why i received this ticket was because of my car and its unfair. I recently took my rims off and put my stock back on because it seems your a target out there for cops to pick on. So all you see is a riced up car with a exhaust LOL. If you have been in the same situation as me just holla back and give me a **** you to the cops out there lol. It'll make me feel better since i'm stuck with a 147.50 dollar ticket

pulled over 7 times:

Three times for my Blue LED washers (took them off after third time..) (no ticket)
Once for "reckless driving" (got out of it with my great powers of coming up with accuses)
Once for taking a turn to fast (coulda been because of my car) (no ticket)
Once for following a car to close and flashing my lights (lol.. no ticket)
Once for "disregaurding a stop sign" (total BS cause I saw the stop sign... lol. I pretty much stopped too. This is the only ticket I have gotten so far. Ironicly, this was with my old Chevy Lumina and not my Civic)

My friend has been pulled over 9 times (all for speeding) and he has gotten 7 tickets. I tell him that he either needs to learn how to talk to cops or get a radar detector. He has a crappy Ford Escort though .. He has gotten over $700 in tickets..

the first day i bought my civic i put on my 18 inch rims w/ red tires (schorchers) i got pulled over at 7am on the way to school and at 11:45am on the way home from school, i was f*cking pissed off

this is before i had my civic but i got pulled over three times in one night, two of them where outside of my city and within 200 metres of each other (very sad) didn't get any tickets but i was getting really annoyed so i got a little lippy on the third time

first cop pulls me over "have you been drinking?" no i wasn't, he looks in car for alcohol then lets me go.
drive 200 m get pulled over again "have you been drinking?" this is when i turn into a smart *** and say "yes, from back their (pointing at other cop car that pulled me over with lights still flashing) to here i had two beers"......looks at me kinda wierd then lets me go

Shhiet. . I'd take the 18 over and pay it and leave it alone. Racing another car can land your @$$ in jail these days with a suspended liscense.

And yes. Police target modified cars, because the odds are against you. There is about a 90% chance that if your car is modded, you've got something modded illegally (ie. tinted windows, non-DOT parts, etc.). Being modified is reason to pull you over, just because they are looking for something to get you on. That's how it is. Don't mod your car if you don't wanna get hassled.

Oh and 1 more peice of legal advice for everyone. Don't be soo surprised when you get pulled over for doing something illegal. 5-6 mph over the speed limit is still speeding whether everyone else was doing it or not. You decrease your chances of getting pulled over when you are complying with the law. Just some FYI.

you just admitted right there that you were speeding. The law is the law and speeding is speeding even if your going 1 mph over the limit, you breaking the law and has the right to pull you over.

yeah i know i was speeding but I got pissed because I wasn't going 18mph over the speed limit. I should have least got a ticket for 5 or 6mph.

^^so what, I hate cops dont care if they are on this board, they give me too much of a hassle even when im obeying driving laws around here and I still get pulled over just so they can check under my hood in the middle of the freakin day, oh yeah like im going to go street race at 2 in the afternoon, i dont even street race anymore period and they still hassle me.

pay the ticket and learn your lesson, and return your radar detector. it may go off, but the officer already has your speed, so most of the time they are useless.

at night they are easy to spot as well. pull up behind the car, hit the radar, watch the light turn from green to red......great fun! j/k

Haha, I was with 2 buddies from work going for lunch and we were in the one guy's 67 Coronet, not import I know, he hit the gas a little too hard on a corner and peeled out, didn't notice the cop right behind him. So we got pulled over, my buddy was pissed, he wouldn't sign the ticket and he kept saying it was bullshit. We get the ticket and he just walks on the gas and just rips away, but he didn't go over 50km/h which is the speed limit, and we get pulled over again, didn't even make it 50 feet before the lights came back on. No ticket the second time though but he was pretty pissed off.

You pull up behind a car and try to clock their speed with radar? How does that work from behind? Plus who cares if they're easy to spot?

Maybe if you buy your radar detector at Toys R Us the cop will clock you before you know he's there. Any decent detector will tell you well before the cop sees you. In fact new ones can't even be detected by cops who use the Spectre radar detection in states where radar detectors are illegal!

I know several cops and they all complain that the radar detectors that are out today are light years ahead of the technology they use on a daily basis. It's very frustrating for them.
