Ok, I am about to undergo some cosmetic surgery to my civic and i need to know if having no reverse lights and no lighted license plate is legal??? i want to shave my trunk but this is my daily driver... id be so pissed if i shave everything and end up getting a phat fix it ticket.. i am in california thank you =)

i believe that it is illegal,,,,,but dont' quote me on it.

Just put some eclipse reverse lights in it.......that is what most ppl do.

as for the reverse lights, i doubt any police would really see your lights unless you backed out right in front of one and he/she was feeling particularly observant. but license plate light is one of the big things they pull you over for when they can't find anything else on you, but want to stop you (like when your taillight is out).

as far as the reverse lights, the officer would have to see that when you backed up. and the license plate lights, you better get some of those cause you will get a ticket everytime in cali at night if you dont have them.

california cop.... no reverse lights when backing up is illegal.

not having an illuminated plate at night is also illegal.

also, not having the plate on your bumper or trunk is illegal, i.e. in your window or something...

No reverse lights? Do you ever have to back up at night? I hope you can see in the dark or never go anywhere where there isn't any light. Good luck backing up in the dark without hitting something.

make sure the lights that are gonna light up the license plate is either white or near factory color that it came with. any blue light in the rear is illegal.
as for reverse light, ONLY white or sumwhat near that color.

Not having reverse lights is not illeagle. Otherwise how are LED strips legal? My friend has a bagged tacoma, the rear end is welded shut, and everything was shaved, He has a 54" led and has never gotten **** about it.

License plate bulbs are a diffrent story, you must need them.

Nevada Revised Statute 484.585 Additional equipment for lighting

4. Any motor vehicle may be equipped with one or more backup lamps either separately or in combination with other lamps. Backup lamps shall not be lighted when the vehicle is in forward motion.

NRS 484.541 General requirements for equipment.

1. A person shall not drive, move, stop or park any vehicle, or cause or knowingly permit any vehicle to be driven, moved, stopped or parked, except for purposes of repair, on any highway if such vehicle:

(a) Is in such unsafe condition as to endanger any person or property.

(b) Is not equipped with lamps, reflectors, brakes, horn and other warning and signaling devices, windows, windshield, mirrors, safety glass, mufflers, fenders and tires, and other parts and equipment in the position, condition and adjustment required by the laws of this state as to such parts and equipment of a vehicle on the highways of the state at the time, under the conditions and for the purposes provided in such laws.
