i used to work for the prosecutors office.....asa clerk i got ot drive there cars every day... intrepid, impala, and mustang once

I know the cops in Texas like to have their cars a "little" modified. I'm not really that worried of those cop cars. It's the unmarked cars that are beyond anything I've seen.
I think it was RealTV when there was a car chase and the cops couldn't keep up and an unmarked cop flew on the freeway and gunned it. Then the cops loose the car they were following AND the unmarked car. Waiting at the intersection, they see the car they were chasing fly through the intersection and right behind was the unmarked cop. It was one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

My cousin and I were running up the interstate at around 90-95mph when he passed a black camero, next thing we knew there was a **** load of blue light flashing on this thing and we are getting pulled over. A uniformed cop was driving.

Rep Power: 0 Most cop cars are not suprcharged. The regular cruisers are just the regular crown victorias. Police stations usually have "interceptors" which tend to be some kind of fast car. For example, in my city. They have a Dodge Viper. But if all else fails they will pull a helicoptor up on you. Police are told not to persue you unless you did something really major like kill someone. If its a traffic violation and you run from them. Well they already have you license plate number. They are REALLY good at taking those down.

Rep Power: 0 why the heck would a police car need nitrous? most cars they chase are beat up stolen cars anyways (assuming the police vids they show on fox are accurate), and the helicopters have a eagles-eye view of everything

All you would have to do (if you had a fast car) is drop it down a gear haul *** to 140 miles per hour. Then make a break at the first exit. Go down a street find a mcdonalds park get something to eat and have a good laugh. Because they can't see your license plate at that speed, regardless of what they wan't you to believe. I've lost cops in my Civic before I was going 100 MPH and passed one on the side of the road. They are slow as hell.

Rep Power: 0 Someone said that the cops are really good at taking down license plate #'s. Well not in my town. Hehehehehehe. I was following a friend to his house and we were bookin, prolly 85-90 in a 40. He saw a cop (which I didn't know about) and pulled into a parking lot at about 50mph. I was like, "You don't live HERE do you?!!". He said, "I saw a freaking cop!!!". I was like "oh **** buckets!!!". "run"....." what do you mean run!!" i said. "Lets just hide". So we hid in a hospital parking lot behind a fitness buidling. Hehehehehe, his friend had a police scanner. All they said was "A black (my car) and a grey sports car blah blah" Nothing about #'s. And even if they had #'s. Nothing happened. So woohoo for not goin to Jail.
Anyone else see something wrong with police spending $50k on a SUV? Couldn't they supe up an Explorer (with the same results) and save $20k? I'd be pissed if I saw a police H2 Hummer in my town. WIth budget shortfalls and all...
Depts get grants from the state, and we put that money into whatever they tell us to. special grants for DUI and such. No, we are not superman and cant catch everyone. We arnt going to endanger the lives of others because you where speeding. But we can meet you down the road.
Another officer I knew was in a gas station and some kid peel'd out of the parking lot. well he had the plates of that car because the video system in the car was still on REC. and so later that night the officer was parked across the street from the kids house amd waited till the kid drove home. They had a nice little talk with the parents too.

most specialty vehicles such as the h2 and corvetts etc are results of drug seizures and forfeitures. we just picked up a 2003 expedition 4x4. but we will put it to use as we have many trailes, powerlines and snow. it is definitly not a pursuit vehicle however. couldnt keep up with someone at all.
only ran once and it was on my bike and by accident. I honestly didnt see the officer. We got away because we were lucky but its not something I would ever want to do intentionaly. Just take the ticket, its way easier then trying to get insured after you get busted running. Motorola radio, 0-186,000miles/second in 0.5 seconds (time it takes to push the talk button). even a turbo K series in a 100lb gocart isnt going to outrun that.
