Rep Power: 539 Living in B.C. not all it's cracked up to be
First of all...I do really LOVE it here in B.C. so don't get me wrong. The problem I have with this place is the government for the most part. They control everything including auto insurance....it's a damn monopoly.
Appears that the single biggest mistake I could have made was bringing my car out here. Not because of the cost to ship it but rather the cost and extreme pain in the azz that getting it safetied, plated and insured has become. PS..you have to have the car safetied (inspected) to get it plated.
1) My insurance is still based in Ontario and recently went from $160/m to $286/mdouble u tee ef eh?. They did a drivers extract on me and found the tickets from last March when I was probably the most wanted driver on the 401 between Brantford and Ottawa
2) I HAVE to get the tint from the front windows removed, no way around this at all. Nobody will safety the car with it on there.
3) I HAVE to raise the car up to at least 1.5" from the 1.75" it's sitting at now. They WILL measure it....ghey!
4) I HAVE to get some stupid letter from the Ministry of Transportation in Ontario proving that I've had my G license for more than a year. Like wtf, I never even had to do Graduated Licensing..lol. So that'll take 2 weeks, $6 on the mastercard and then $35 to switch it to B.C.
5) get my plates after all the above nonsense.
....and here's the tricky part....I'd like your advice on this please.
6a) either get the insurance company in Ontario to fax the one here to get them my info and have to pay through the nose for insurance. This by the way is if I keep the car...lol.
or
6b) sell the car or trade in to a dealer and get an older one (more fun) and likely have all the above taken care of for me and probably avoid the tickets finding me here in B.C.
what would you do?

Rep Power: 291 yeah man, sell the beast.
Shitty deal, that's for sure. sell it...**** it.
get an EG, and save the funds for a bike. if you CAN, sell the car, use any leftover money for a bike, and don't worry about a car until the fall...tis the bike season, bro.
wait for a good good deal on an EG or something. then jump on it. but in the meantime, get a bike

Rep Power: 291 hahah yeah, I would assume option B would be your best bet. But if you didn't read my PM, ask the local guys in Vancouver if they know anyone who will "safety" your car with the stuff on it.
