my car is dead! (well.. half dead)

Today, I drove for a while and when I was parked to see the map, the car was shaking, so I was what the hell and looked at the RPM guage, and it was dropping to zero and back up, drpiing to zero and back up.
I thought it was nothing but random thing that happens. so I put my car in reverse, but while reversing, car shook and died. never happened before, so I turn my car on again, put it in Drive, and drove. but it wouldnt go over 3000rpm and doesnt want to go from first gear into second or third gear.
damn it.
also, sometimes when I am on Park, RPM bounces around sounding/shaking like it's gonna die soon
What could be wrong?
engine oil, tranny fluid seems alrite. checked to see intake filter but looks clean.
I had resgenator taken out for 2 days from stock intake and put it back on but still having problem

not sure about civics, but maybe one of your vacum hoses poped off, check your spark plugs too maybe? althought they wouldn't fail just like that.

Reset the ecu, make sure there's no engine light. Otherwise it may be a sensor or you could try raising the idle rpm.

yeah.. but what about the map sensor? has it gone bad? or it needs cleaning?
I resetted ECU but after test driving, it came on again
also where would I locate vacum hose?

They are all around, mainly around the throttle body. Just make sure they're all pushed in and clamped. Get some TB cleaner and wipe inside the TB (you can open the valve with the lever to clean inside. Might just be dirty. It could be your tps or map sensor, in which case its new throttle body time. Get the code checked for the engine light first.

isnt it like couple hundred dollors for O2 sensors? ahh.. I guess trip to Honda dealer
one thing I am thinkin is that my dad used my car last nite into town and got 94Octane gas, which I dont normally get. Also it happened after I took the resegenator off for two days and rained today..... this is giving me too much stress

Don't worry. Yea getting that gas was a bad idea, but just run it out and go back to regular. o2 sensors aren't that expensive. I think you can even get some from an auto parts store. I doubt its over $50.

gearbox, by re adjesting idle RPM, do you mean doing it by adjusting the tottle cable?

02 sensors are a few hundred from Honda. They are cheaper if you buy them from the states but good luck getting them to ship to Canada. I thought the same that they couldn't be that much but the guy at Honda told me different

but I doubt it's idle rpm thing tho cause while I was in highway doing 110, suddenly felt shake and rpm dropped. I tried punching the gas, but nothing happeded. or is it just my ECU putting car into safe mode?

ya safe mode when the engine light comes on. By idle I mean adjusting the set screw to raise rpms by opening the throttle plate more. It's prolly not that tho cause everything should be computer controled. If you need an o2 sensor I could see how much they are here and ship it to you if it ends up being cheaper.

I think it was like $30 in the states and over $200 in canada. I don't remember if it was that high but I remember it being alot higher then in the states.

hmm i dunno what that could be. Ive had a cel for my high flow cat for a while and i noticed so drop in performance but my car never dies or anything. I dont know what that code is but check what everyone else said. Maybe you shorted one of the wires by hooking up ur alarm system. How long was the engine light on?

Off topic: viper ur a rep ***** if ive ever seen one "its ur passenger seat....rep please" LMAO...haha

ok, i just read this after i replied to your PM. Check the stuff I told you about (primary O2) but I would also check out your sensor wire that goes into your airbox. (IAF or AIF or something like that?) If you just recently took your resonator off, maybe that wire got pulled out or damaged? Also, maybe try Putting regular gas in there, the higher octane gas could be messing it up. Definitely reset you computer after checking everything out. Pull you negative off your battery for around 10 min and then put it back on, start you car and don,t touch the gas for 5 min.

Still not working
I feel like Shandon bahaha just kiddin man..

Upd-Ate
It's Moving but something is Fked up. so I went to honda in Bank st. thay are like "OK sir, your car will be looked at on wednesday, 2 weeks later and it's $51 just to check the engine code + $$ for other inspection." said fkit and I went to Ottawa honda, where I usually go and I talked to the guy for while trying to find out whats wrong with it, he suggestes to try find it on my own cause if I bring it to them it's still $51. So I drive around and problem got bigger so went to some random shop (one infront of Bestbuy in Vaniea) and the owner did a testdrive of my car, gave me some ideas and booked an appointment tomorro morning. probly gonna get charged $100 just to find out whats wrong.. I wish I know what's wrong and be able to replace it on my own.. damn it..

I wish I had a code reader..

only time I had a problem with RPM's was when the oil shifted in my pan and the VTEC wouldn't kick in due to lack of oil....sorta like a rev limiter....car lurched like crazy.
