Hid
Ok guys ... so I'm looking into getting an HID conversion on my car. I been doing searches on the site and this guy Impulse is selling kits by this company named Xtec.
Anyone know anything about this stuff. Whats good and whats not. I also know that these kits are not High and Low beams. Do you think I should look for a bi-xenon kit.
Shandon hooked me up with a site that's selling a different company named Xetronic. The price for my car is $399 USD for normal ... add $100 USD for hi/low beam.
What do you think ???

That was just a quick site, i don't know about their quality or anything. You might be able to ghetto rig something together from a HID setup from another car, i see parts on ebay fairly often from bmws and what not.

Hmmm .. yah I know a friend of mine bought them from this shop that he always goes to (in Calgary) ... for his Tiburon. The company is american and he's never had any problems with them.
I wonder just to save the headaches if I should just go get them from the same place he did.

something had to be wrong on the thread about Jay not delivering within 4months, I ordered my kit and got it within 4 days.. and the kit wasnt made right the pos and neg were switched on the connector to stock, and Jay spent the better part of 4hrs talking to me on aim to figure out the problem.. so dont buy that bullshit on a rare occurance, Jay is a GREAT GUY. I'd always buy from him.

well Jay's kits are GREAT quality, and all plug n play, except galaxy(which is just a minor fix), I've never seen any problem threads on the xtec.
here I made a diy page to fix the Galaxy HID problem, it's simple.

I don't really know about HID brands - ie which are better than which.. Perhaps you can search and/or chat with some HID gurus on 7thgen (Impulse, infinite012, ... )
I know through a MTL board that the McCulloch brand was selling for -
- 5300k [bulb availability see above] [$360]
- 6000k [bulb availability see above] [$390]
- 8000k [bulb availability see above] [$420]
- 10000k [bulb availability see above] [$450]
Hi/Lo is only available in H4 only and it is an additional $160
*Though that pricing was a group-buy that ended last month - however they are running a special on the 5300k set for 340$ (not a gb or anything).. not sure how much more expensive, but appears cheaper at a glance than the price you got quoted for Xetronic. And the McCulloch kits are sealed - "made for Montreal weather" as they state. Also depends really on what rating of lighting, color tone, you want to go for. And there are two different HID sellers on this MTL site, so I'm sure something similar can be found..

i got my catz kit for $385 (retail $650) for hi/low. I was actually impressed with how the kit that shmik1 has compares. There isn't much glare at all and the color is nice. It's really no comparison. Hid is like having 3 halogen bulbs combined for each housing.
