Question Oil Question (Please give your expert advice)

Heres another quirk that I have..

Ive had Preludes, Camrys, Mazdas and ive always put Valvoline 10W30 in them with out ever a glitch or problem..
Now why the hell is there 5W20?????? Why can't I put good old 10W30 or 5W30 in the winter to me it would protect the engine more than 5W20...5W20 is like water when I check it on my dipstick to me it just doesn't make any sense at all.. To me it will wear out the engine quicker. alot of times I would even put 10W40 in the summer to really protect the engine better.. I know what the first number 5 means and the second one 20 also..

Do any of you put in synthetic??? I do oil changes every 5000kms no matter what.....

Whats the best option from the start and then ill stick to it... If you guys or girls say synthetic then ill do that too...

I use synthetic. Mobile 1 is what I use. BTW why are you doing oil changes every 5000kms You know you only have to do it every 8000kms. Don't give me a bullshit reason either. Just a waste of money IMO to do it every 5000kms.

I donno hope Honda knows what's best for our engine.
Since it says I eat Only 5W20 in red on the engine oil cap
I just stick with it.
I think it has to do with fuel economy in stop and go everyday traffic imo
I dont like how the engine cools down really fast in the winter time so the heater never works right when the vehicle is parked. Although 5w20 is a great oil for freezing weather.
yes 5w20 is like water comparing to other oils
but I never had starting problems or anyothers so I will just stick with 5w20

For 5w20 Oils, all I could find was Quakerstate, Penzol, and Honda OEM oils.

I do oil changes every 5000~9000 km max. Whenever my engine has "I need new oils" sound that's when I go for it

anyways my point is, Go for what ever your manual says. Just like different gas Octanes for different cars

Does it have a green cap? I don't know what Liljoe uses but I do know that it is mobil1 synthetic. They just came out with a new one. It is for cars that are driven hard. Don't know what grad but I will check for ya. On the accord I do an oil change every 10,000kms. I was going to do it earlier but the oil is still golden at 8000kms. I don't drive it hard so it lasts me longer

Do you wait till 8000 clicks to do the oil change also??..

I think when you want to sell your car and you say that your baby has been getting synthetic oil since new and you have bills to prove people tend to like that alot

Well I dont know im 33 soon to be 34 and have had cars since im 17 so yeah i think i can manage an oil change..lollll

Heres the problem about doing it though..Listen up

If you get the oil in one of those big jugs then all you do is empty the dirty oil in the big bottle one shot with out any mess..But if you have 4 or 5 small 1 liter bottles you wind up having a darn mess all over the floor trying to fill them back up with the used oil...

Solution>??? if they sell Mobile one synthetic in large bottles ill do if not then I guess ill go to the lube place

technically you COULD get away with longer change intervals, but synthetic isn't meant to extend service schedules. Really it's meant to be changed at the same intervals, providing better protection while it IS in the car.

They do sell themn in large bottles. Why don't you buy an oil pan. Might be easier.

I have an oil Pan lolllllllllllll its not like I take the oil pan bolt off and let it drain directly in the bottles..lollll

I let the old oil go in my big plastic oil pan then i empty it.

Ill check to see tonite where the oil filter is placed cuz i have no idea if i can reach it from on top of the engine bay or do i need to get it off from below..

In my camry's it was right in front of the engine..it was the best

Well then I guess I misread. I am not to sure if oyu can get the filter from the top. It screws downward so it might be easier to get at it from the bottom of the car.
