Eminem went from a street-credible battle cat to a watered-down media *****. Nothin wrong with makin paper, but when you get thrust into the pop music spotlight, the ratio of riches-to-relevance changes drastically. Meaning you make way more money but you don't last as long on the scene. I don't give him much longer in the spotlight before people tire of his antics.
ok all this studying is gotten me in the essay mood, so here goes.
eminem is such a dissapointment, this is a man that has lyrical skills, he started out by raping about his life and about parent abuse, about the diffrence in blacks and whites in the rap world and other issues, his lyrics were good, and his beats rocked too. he then got famous, and joined sides with dr dre, which is undisputebly the best money making rap producer out there, dre knows what sells and he knows how to make money. both of them have headied towards making as much money as possible by providing crap music which has a club beat to it, people dance to it, and enjoy the bass, but thats were it end.
the sad thing is that almost the entire rap industry has shifted towards that, i dont even know why they call it rap because it not, its hip hop, and most of the music these days cant even be classified as that, but rather as hip pop. all that matters is making music that has no intellectual value, but rather a :move your body: value, the music makes u wanna dance and sounds amazing in clubs. But that isnt what rap is supposed to be about, if u want to make club music, start producing dance music. or even club hip pop music, but say you rap.
Now this is where we need a revlution, the music industry throughout history has gone in up/down hill trends. the music getts really shitty then someone sparks something and starts a new revolution and good music comes back. examples of this are elvis, woodstock, beegees/madonna (pop world) then the dmc rap revolution in the 80s, and the biggy 2pac revolution in the 90s, and so on.
rap is not the only music suffering, look at rock, it has gone from legends like ac/dc and nirvana, to nickelback. the pop industry has crashed from legends like madonna, micheal jackson and elton john. to britnie spears and the simpson sisters.
Now people everywhere are fed up of this, they want good music, music that has meaning and inteleectual value, good lyrics and original beats. Society is ready for a change, and all that is needed is someone to start this revolution.
and this concludes me to my theory of my Sidefx (Landin) will be very big. landin has intellectual and lyrical skills. he does rap about garbege, and his lyrics give u something to think about. this is the kind of music that is truly rap. and this is where the rap revolution is heading. this change i am talking about has already started, look at artists like K-OS, kynie west, and talib kweli. there new albumes are very good in terms of rap quality, good lyrics, originall ideas and good beats all in one. it will take some time, but in a few years ( my theory is that by 2007) the faces of people like eminem, dre mase, snoop, 50 cent........ are gonna dissapear. and a new wave of talents rappers are gonna take over. and Landin will be one of them.
sorry about the long post, i needed a break from the books

oh BTW Abe, I highly doubt snoop will disapear...although his newer CD's suck he will always be in a different artists video and the song will be a smash hit (he is awsome when featured on another artists song)....Drop it like it hawwwwwwwwwwwwt! AND I find that Rock music is slowly comming back...look at the 70's rock style they are bringing back (long hair, beards etc.) there are alot of new bands like Jet, Franz Ferdenand, Switchfoot, and billy Talent that are coming out with that wicked old school sound!
