Don't buy or get work done at Immke Honda
Ive been having tons of problems with Immke Honda and their service department. Service manager agreed to get car repaired under a good will warranty even after telling him my car had been modified. Drove an hour up there to drop it off last night, get a call this morning saying they won't do the repairs because my car has nitrous and exhaust and all that bs. Talked to the service manager and he claims I never told him the car had been modified. I told him, last time I brought it up there, the records show my car was modified then AND I told him over the phone that it was modded and he never said anything. This is the second time fighting them over repairs with modded car and I just want to warn everyone never to go up there and not expect to experience problems with the service dept if your in the columbus area.

unless ur having engine trouble or exhaust trouble or tranny trouble then they cant deny you. if they do they have to prove that the nitrous caused what is wrong to be wrong

Yeah Its tranny work. I had complained about the problem at 35000 miles about 3rd gear starting to grind and the 2nd and 5th gear problem. They gave me the same hassle about the car being abused and modified and said if they tore down my transmission, and the gears were abused, it would be on me to pay for it. Well I agreed, and there ended up being no gear damage, just synchro damage. They had said at the time that the 3rd gear wasn't in bad enough shape to warrant repairs, but if it got worse to bring it in. 10,000 miles later, its worse and they had agreed to fix it on the phone and a year ago. They are telling me nitrous caused it and I'm like it was broke 10,000 miles ago!

...and this is why you don't mod your car and expect to get stuff replaced under warranty. You're pushing more power through this tranny that it was engineered to handle. Sure, I know that it can handle more than that, but Magnusson-Moss won't save you here. They're not denying your transmission-related claim because you installed aftermarket headlight bulbs, they're denying your drivetrain request because you modded your drivetrain. On a related note, all dealers are evil. Immke was at least nice enough to replace a bunch of stuff that Hugh White screwed up on my car (which is comfortably out of warranty at 56K miles and 5 years old).

The problem is, I had the problem way before I had nitrous on the car and its documented in their service notes. At the time, they said it wasn't bad enough to fix, but to bring it in later when the problem was bad. Granted, I should have taken off the nitrous before I went in there, the fact remains I had the problem when my car had an intake and thats it and I was promised it would be fixed down the road because I had the problem during my warranty period. I think having the nitrous is irrelevant because the problem was there BEFORE i really had any mods on my car.

please i had my entire tranny scrapped and rebuilt by the dealer at 32k.
and yes the act does help. it says the dealer is going to have to prove that whatever the mods are directly screwed the tranny up

" it says the dealer is going to have to prove that whatever the mods are directly screwed the tranny up" - precisely. It won't be hard to prove that adding power output to the engine to which the transmission is connected accelerated its failure.
To the original poster - yeah, I know that sucks, it's happened to me too on my car, although it was for a less important issue (driver's seat rocking). It you have it in writing (I hope you didn't take the dealer slimeball's word for it!) you can try calling AHM directly, but otherwise I think you're just out of luck.

I have a meeting with a honda rep on the 31st to talk about it in person.
Its not like the tranny is shot or anything, I grinds randomly and only above 6000 rpms so its not a big deal if it doesn't get fixed, I would have ideally liked it done the first appt, 10,000 miles ago.

yes because joe schmoe reciitng some law to a million $$ company that is connected to a billion $$ corp. is doing to do something. That isn't how the business world works. You would need to get lawyers involved, which could possibly end up costing more than just paying for the tranny work yourself. That may work with some smaller dealerships or some smaller repairs.

this isnt how the business world works? i do believe that if i stand in the service department, which is connected to the sales area of my dealer, and yell and scream about the shitty service or lack thereof in front of everyone in the sales department and throw around a few ACTS or law anythings. some lil joe schmo service clerk aint gunna know two ***** and prolly **** his pants and do the work to shut u up and keep the people that are in there trying to buy a car happy and not believe that this is what they will have to deal with if something like this happens to them.
o he mentioned some lil act thingy.......SPEED DIAL=corporate......i dont thinks so

Yo Lance, let's hijack this thread
Yep, I've still got it, probably will for awhile. I went and looked at a few cars this week, but I just don't like anything enough to buy it. I gotta hurry up and buy a house so I won't buy a car.
and C2i0whatever, no one is doubting you, and quit working so hard to make a couple of ******* on an internet forum believe you.
EDIT: I just saw your latest post. The last time I saw someone making a complete *** of himself in a service department the police were called and they were escorted out. You attract more bees with honey.
scansel - good luck with your dealer appointment. Trust me, it's not that I dont want you to get your tranny fixed, that would be great. I'm just providing the Honda point of view. Your argument will be stronger for dealing with my pessimism.
