Arrow SF Turbo or Turbo Discounters

Is there a difference between these kits in performance or is a turbo a turbo basically. Also if I were to get a turbo would it be recommended that I get the piston chambers bored and get new pistons for increased performance to handle the induction? Im really stupid with this shiznit so it would be awesome if someone could help me out.

Yeah, there is a difference. One works good with numbers, and the other didn't at first and has no numbers. I'm not taking sides though, because one was installed by a professional in shop, and the other wasn't and is being dyno'd soon. TurboDiscounters uses a GT25BB Turbo which will spool faster (but not by much) than the Garrett T3 in SFPower's kit. But the T3 will allow for a cooler charge than the T25 because of the larger compressor. The T3 can outboost the T25 if you decide to build the engine. Plus it's upgradable to the T04 compressor or higher stage turbine and compressor blades. You don't need to bore out the cylinder, you can just upgrade the pistons. Along with that: rods, retainers, headgasket, valves, springs, camshaft, while your in there anyway. (save time and money). But you don't need to do that to buy and use either of these kits. Just to use them at a higher PSI.

Sound like Turbo Discounters didnt do much R&D. A real company would have some numbers, test numbers with different fuel combos ect............VERY DISAPOINTED I RECOMMEDED THIS TO EVERYONE.

Sf kit has it homework done...Go with the SF kit.... Hands down, looks way better to.

just remember, with an upgraded exhaust, better plugs, and running the 7 psi that the kits are recommended to run, you WILL make quite a bit more power than the numbers i posted. Right now we are estimating my car to be putting down more than 210 whp with the 2.5" exhaust, denso iridium plugs, and the fuel system tuned correctly.

at 6 psi, stock exhaust, stock plugs, and about 5 mins of tuning time, we made 165 whp and 166 ft/lbs.

sorry i am posting soo much here, but here is the link to the DIY for the SF kit. It takes less than 4 hours start to finish, and is easy to install.

iamboo is on a distinguished road
hmmm... riceburnerex had like 198hp at the wheel at 8 psi in his setup... that's a car with vtec... technically, LX's run lower compression therefore you can theoretically boost more in LX/DX engines which equals more power gains... but damn... 70+ whp is a crazy gain... and if catalyst is running 210 whp like he thinks he is... that's roughly 105% increase in power aT THE WHEELS!!!!! this is how i figure...

at the wheels, the LX/DX puts out 102whp stock... i got this from my dynosheet when i got my stock civic dynoed at K&N when they were making my intake for me...

okay heres the math...

210whp - 102whp = 108whp

108whp/102whp = 1.05

1.05 x 100% = 105% whp over stock....

keep in mind that the 210 whp is ONLY AN ESTIMATE.... it's needs a real dyno run to see how much power it really puts out... but yea... 210whp would be freakin' sweet.. .

a little miss info in this post. Actually you want to have the block bored .020 over to match your new pistons. Running std bore pistons in a used motor is just asking for trouble such as pistons slap. Your other choice would be having the block sleeved and using a std bore turbo low compression piston since the sleeves are new.

Thanks. I'm a little new except I know what's what but when it gets down to the small technical crap I'm lost. I plan on making my car a show car that looks hella sweet but I also want to back it up with some power ya know? Is there a website for that SF Turbo?

Yeah I hope for you too. I want to see various opinions on these kits and we'll take it from there. It still seems as if the SF kit is much better belt however. I really like the fuel upgrade method over TD because I'm trying to avoid using the PLASTIC intake manifold to deliver fuel to the engine.
