It all depends on how you plan on making it fast... Then you have to look at how much money you are willing to spend. It also depends on what your definition of fast is.

14 seconds for an automatic IMO is very, VERY good! you would of shaved 4 whole seconds off what you would of run stock. i have a mission that i will turn my car into a 14 second auto. after i get an exhaust, i plan on getting nitrous, then i'm saving for "the big one", the TD extreme kit, of course i'm hoping by the time i saved enough for that more internal parts are gonna be out for our engine. then i'm hoping a turbo with a 50 shot (with stronger internals mind you) will be enough for 14 seconds, call me crazy but i'm hoping it will work.

why spend more for a car that is now slower than mine?
I can beat an RSX-S with my civic lx. They arent very fast. Once i get some pistons and a good head gasket, i bet i will easily be into the 13's

IMO i would rather soop up a civic, they look better/sexier than most other cars, but i you want something fast out of the factory, get a WRX or S2000

ya honestly, not to get all philosophical and shizzle, but there are some poeple that don't want a factory fast car. lets subtract the high school kids that goto apc for their abc's of modding. we're left with a huge chunk of peeps that mod their cars, cuz they like the challenge of making an otherwise slowass econocart, into a high performance race machine. sure, it takes a helluva lot blinging to get a vic even near the 13's. but shoot man, once you're there..i guarantee there'll be no regrets.

damn, just getting it into the 14's is well worth the effort.
I just raced a 7th gen that thought he was the **** (he was even drinking a bit while at the light). I blew his doors off by about 10 cars by the middle of 4th gear. THen i slowed down to see the look on his face. I love most 7th gen people. But it is the high school kids that think that their intake/exhaust from ebay make them the best.
Dont get me wrong, thats how i started, but i never thought my car was fast. These kids were messing with me for about a mile before we found a red light. So i had to burst their little bubble, before their heads go too big from racing geo's and kia's

its not so much that the goal of building a fast civic is to gain respect of others for your car and yourself. you build a fast civic because you want the challenge, and enjoy the fact that you are able to make somethin out of nuthin. once you've done that, the respect from others will come. respect is a secondar byproduct of all your hard work, and is not part of the original intent. booya.
