i will post a picture later tonight or tomorrow of what happened to my friends b18 when his boost spiked at 16 psi. He normally runs 6-8. But just to describe it to you before you see it, it blew a chunk out of the cylinder wall, and it is about 1" wide by 2" long. we found the piece sitting inside the water jacket .

And that was caused by a spike, not consistently running.

I didn't say BS either, I just said that I wanted to see if it had an effect on the dyno, and hoped it was an odd occurance and not based on the PRofec. So that's what it came down to then... the solenoid was bad?

EDIT: Oh well... bought the E-manage and PRofec e-01 anyway... the Profec e-01 is on backorder though.

the reason u buy arp studs is so you dont blow head gaskets. if u have them u will probably warp your head befor u blow the gasket. and 10lbs will NOT blow your head off ... what r u thinking . stock neons are like boosting to 19lbs and you can put a boost controller on any dsm and run like 14 with out probalems

People say that 10psi blows the head gasket because this one dude boosted to 10psi and his gasket blew out. It was intercooled too. Maybe it can handle a little more with more intercooling. Maybe. I don't know for sure when it blows out though...

DSM's boost 12 lbs stock you can turn them up to like about 17 PSI on the stock turbo and about 22 on some of the aftermarket ones

Those DSMs are factory built FI vehicles. I'm sure all of the components have a margin of safety on them.

the 1st gen DSM's have a 17 psi fuel cut on them. I know because i tuned my friends 1991 eagle talon TSi. We can run 17 psi with an SF front mount intercooler and piping, aftermarker MAF sensor, and a vortech SuperFMU before the computer reads too much airflow into the engine and cuts the fuel. At 18 psi, his boost cut kicks in and makes for an extremely bumpy ride.

2G DSM have higher range sensors and don't cut till about 25 PSI but at that poin you wouldn't want to be running stock computer anymore anyway.

1st off you people saying a head blows off at 10psi are idiots.

Next ive never seen people circle jerk to a boost spike till now and figures it would be this site, your lucky you didnt crack a cylinder or something else boost spike tells you one thing bad install or subpar aftermarket parts.
