Just purchased a turbo!
Here's my question: Is port polish a waste of money when using forced induction? Because your already running as much air as your engine can take. Does it improve throttle response? Any imput is greatly appreciated!

first off you purchased a turbo or a turbo kit? haha. and yes of course port and polish will help you out. its makes the heads larger to improve air flow and it will allow the D17 to "breather" better. i reccomend a port and polish with a turbo. and what are the specifics of you "turbo". i'd like to hear.

I know it does wonders on a ALL MOTOR set up, but I am not sure if it would be worth on forced induction. I know a couple places that do good jobs (Port polish and angle valve job) Let me research some more and maybe we can get it all done at the same time (Group Buy :rolleyes
Hey Tecknosis have you ever went on the Canada East Forum? You should!

Hey man, ya, I check it out once in a while, but it seems like its mostly a GTA forum...not so much canada east
There's not too many people with pimped out civics up here in ottawa, though...so I can understand the majority of people being from TO!
Oh, and IMO, I think a port and polish WOULD be worth it...but if you're not sure, you might wanna focus on other internals first.
Good luck!

port and polish doesn't do wonders.. its just another process to get better flow in and out.
besides port and polish, for turbo applications, u should work on the internals to handle more boost... (pistons, etc.)
u can do the easy route like throwing in a head gasket, or block guard... to lower compression ratio and strengthen the cylinder walls... so u can handle more boost...
and sometimes I wish I'm a mod cuz I'll be banning left and right.

In all fairness, I would buy another D17 and build it after you get your turbo installed.
Do everything at your leisure, port and polish the head. Put in some good pistons, use a metal head gasket, all the rest. That way, later you can up the boost and have even more power.
If you really want more power, then you will have to eventually build the engine, that would include the heads. If you find another block, then it would be a quick change instead of keeping your car on blocks for weeks.

I really like that idea. I am planning to run 18psi or more, but I want a bullet proof block! I am going to use ARIAS pistons, KMS connecting rods, a block guard... and other stuff. Thanks rickinthescv I think that's what I am going to do...
Plain and simply, yes a port and polish job will help...also get your t-body hogged out. I could spend forever and a day explaining to you why...but I already probably pissed people off today with a long retort.
So if you would like to know all the things you need to do to run your turbo at optimum PM me.
