Hey whats up peeps, im looking to get a engine swap into my
02 civic dx. Ive been doing some research and i found a couple of engine i would swap to. After coming across pricing the K20 is just too much money for a swap.
I was priced from 3k-4.5k. Anyways i was thinking of going to the D17a2 for vtec and a lil more Hp than my standard engine. But i was wondering if the
2.3L F23A1 150hp would fit or the j30a1 v6 accord engine and which would be better engine to mod with my car???

A D17A2 would not really net you any considerable power. It's a Vtec-E system not a true Vtec system and it's pretty worthless.

Hmm.. Depending on where you live the "F23" is actually an illegal swap because the engine is older than the car. Not to mention it's never been done before and would require an insane amount of fabrication to make it work.

A j30 swap has been done... but.. it required a very large amount of fabrication and welding. If your willing to take on this custom work go for it. In the end it will cost you a lot more than a K20 swap.

There just isn't an easy solution into this generation civic. K20 is honda's best 4 cylinder engine (except maybe the new K24). If your going to swap that's the route you should go.

Yeah i hear you about the d17. The f23a1 goes up to year 02 so it would be legal but im not trying to do all the custom welding work. I guess ill have to just save up some more money and wait if i want true Hp. K20 engines are real nice and worth it. Just was tryn to go a cheaper route. Thanks man

Well I honestly don't know much about the F23a1 so you can look into it. It's never been mentioned before so I imagine it's not a very easy swap.
