Tuning Question
Tuning Question
Just bought a '13 Civic LX, and its my first Civic and first Honda altogether. I live in Germany and brought it over from the US. Not looking to race or anything, but the autobahn does give me the opportunity to drive faster
and I am wondering what some simple performance mods would be to squeeze a few more ponies out without significant mods such as cams or turbos, etc.

Re: Tuning Question
Air intake and exhaust.
Usually for our cars, those mods don't do too much but they will be much more effective at higher speeds (which the autobahn allows).
Otherwise, nothing else will make your car any different without spending a grip if money on turbos and such.

In the realm of the dealer world, your car does not exist now that it has left our country!
Other people have said they can't get anyone to touch their US spec car over there as far as warranty is concerned, and it just isn't feasible to drag the car back to the US to get it fixed.
I have no idea if these cars will reach speeds fast enough to have tire speed ratings come in to play, but manufacturers used to limit top speed electronically to keep it at what speed the stock tires were rated at. I really have no idea if Honda does this now either.
I think you should have just bought a nice fast car over there, then export it back to the US later on.
Re: Tuning Question
Thanks to all for the replies, yes I was looking into a 3 series Beamer but I just dont have the money and I needed something new because my 'Benz was beginning to show its age. This was a well-equipped and pretty nice car for the $$ and worth it to me. As for the warranty, it does carryover to Germany, but not the extended. Warranties suck here. They will honor the base warranty, but if I am still here when that is up, I am on my own until it returns to the US. I have a dealer here who will work on US model Hondas (there are a lot of Americans where I am and many US model vehicles around, so if they didn't, they'd kiss half their customers goodbye) I am registered in the US and in their system so it will be covered when I return. Any recommendations for CAI's? I may do exhaust too. What about Hondata or any of those programming kits? Would either of these void me? Thanks!
Re: Tuning Question
For a CAI, I would recommend an AEM one with a Dryflow Filter. If you want to do the exhaust, there are a few decent ones out there such as Apexi, Magnaflow, or Skunk2. I do not believe CAI or exhaust would void your warranty, but you should wait until someone else chimes in here, or you could call your Honda dealer and check.

Re: Tuning Question
Generally the answer should be no, however any issues caused by your aftermarket parts and installation would not be covered. Here are a few examples:
CAI would void warranty IF you sucked up a bunch of water and caused engine damage.
Or had an over-oiled filter that contaminated the MAF sensor, causing a CEL.
Exhaust contacts bumper cover and melts it.
OR Have a ***** that hates you at your dealer.
Probably more but you should get the idea.

Re: Tuning Question
OK so AEM only has one for the Si, but K&N has for my LX. Thoughts? I know those are mainly for American cars and trucks (had one on my Exploder but was happy with its performance)
Re: Tuning Question
K&N isn't too bad, the only thing I don't like about them, is I believe they use an oiled filter (I could be wrong though), and personally I do not like oiled filters. There is a larger chance of dirt being sucked into the engine since the oil will somewhat attract the dirt. I would suggest getting the K&N CAI, then using a Dryflow filter on it.
Re: Tuning Question
Also, I believe 2012 and 2013 models would use the same CAI, and AEM has one for the 2012 model:
