03 civic k20 swap issues ''wont start no spark''

ok here i go... first off i wanna say hello to everyone and any help is greatly appreciated.

im doing a k20swap for a friend of mine... im having a few issues with the car... car turns over but has no spark or fuel.... the ecu is from an o6 rsx ''manual''.. i work for a acura dealer so correctly programmed the key to the ecu.. no flashing immobilizer light.... i checked all grounds and connectors? and still no spark pr signal to the fuel pump... my question is does it matter if he uses the type s engine wire harness? the connectors for the ignition coils are blue and an extra plug by the vtech solenoid ''round two pin has no sensor? also missing connector by the imrc valve ''an emission solenoid''?

ive checked almost everything and still cant figure this one out... oh yea it has several codes ''p0107,p0118,p0122,p0113, p2469,p0600,p0498.. try to clear them and they come right back like theres an open in the engine harness... the harness was brand new?

Re: 03 civic k20 swap issues ''wont start no spark''

if you put your starter on wrong it would just spin and have no spark like that (happened to my friends sr20 240) and check all of the codes i dont feel like looking up all of them but if its throwing that many codes than thats most likely your problem.

Re: 03 civic k20 swap issues ''wont start no spark''

if its on backwards as in the starter on backwards youll just hear a whining noise and it wont turn over. if its actually turning over and starting up and then dying it can be a number of problems. check the codes. you could also have a bad vacuum leak. it can be a number of problems. what are most of the codes describing?

Go over the entire harness and look for pinched wires. Most common problem that I've seen.

Re: 03 civic k20 swap issues ''wont start no spark''

The codes will come back if something is still wrong, you can't just clear them you need to address the problem. Like Lazlong said though, its probably a harness problem pulling that many codes.

Re: 03 civic k20 swap issues ''wont start no spark''

is there a possibility that it is the wrong harness? i mean there are a few models of k20 out there now, is there any difference in the harness of an older k20 or a new one, a k24, or civic si or rsx/rsx-s? or do they all use the exact same harness?

Re: 03 civic k20 swap issues ''wont start no spark''

it sounds to me like you have a harness problem as i highly doubt all of those things are bad on the car....i would personally take the harness out and go over it wire by wire to make sure there is no cuts or breaks and also make sure that is the right harness but yea it doesn't matter how many times you clear the codes if you dont fix the problem the codes are gonna stay on

I would love to do that if it wasn't for those pesky emissions standards. Do you realize that only 3 states have emissions at all. And of those 3 Cali is the only one to implement state wide. We have 254 counties in Texas and only 9 where they have an emissions test.

I don't see how you could pass emissions by adding k-pro unless you use it to map a very low power setting, since they hook you up to a four gas analyzer and measure your exhaust emissions.

Re: 03 civic k20 swap issues ''wont start no spark''

Here they just hook the inspection computer up to the DLC and let the car idle when comp says, rev it when the comp says, the do the safety check (brakes, light, etc.), and send it on it's way. 10-15 minutes tops, $45. This is for OBD-II ('96-newer).

1995 and older they either do 4 or 5 gas, or dyno. That one is $13!

Re: 03 civic k20 swap issues ''wont start no spark''

with k-pro u can run open loop and tune the idle and part throttle sections lean like idle at 16.0 a/f and light throttle at 15.7a/f u will pass no problem then when u leave switch back to closed loop
