KTciv i kno just where ur coming from man i have bought all my parts and have em sittin up for almost a year now. i have a bb t28, intercooler, so much 2.5 piping, steel oil lines, water lines, bov, vacuum lines, vacuum mani, hks mani, spare oil pan, rsxs injectys, downpipe, gaskets. i managed to get an emanage with a greddy profec with a wideband sensor wired into it for a steal. but now that i can go kpro without having to do the head swap is great news - and yea i cant find nobody to do my piping!!

Re: Technical Boosting Questions

piping? i/c or exhaust?

if its i/c then just get the couplers and start customizing (unless you have a kit that is direct fit??)

if its exhaust work, just take it to a shop (cheap enough to do) unless its mandrel your after?

maybe i just misread your post?

Re: Technical Boosting Questions

alright, interesting post...first off im 16 as well (woot!) but live on the other side of the world (not like it makes a differnce) anywyas i run a boosted d17, for which i had to do a whole bottom block and head swap to a 17 from the local d16w9 we get in the local civic here in pakistan where as u will be needing only an a2 head swap for the vtec and the extra kick.... just a few points of turboing a civic d17

1.NEVER go for the first tsi kit, it might be cheap, but no, the piping is just something u wont want
2.piggybacks are fine upto 220 or so whp if tuned well, but ems or kpro FTW
3.dont buy a used kit if the turbo has been changed, i did that and got my *** kicked bad
4.go for the dezod kit, ull remain happy forever, even if u build it later on

check out the dezod v1 kit, u can choose ur management as well, id say go for the aem ems given...u can easily produce 210 whp at 6psi with that, considering i produced 202 whp at around 7.5 psi with a t3 super 60 contorlled through the tsi injector box and a bone stock motor

soon enough ull be needing a new clutch, my cars hardly driven 8k miles and the clutch is almost gone after only a 1000 miles of boost!!

Re: Technical Boosting Questions

Dezod kit FTW.

Cam if you want more power at lower boost levels.

K-pro is the only way to go if you want reliable power.

Re: Technical Boosting Questions

is there a difference in making power with kpro in comparison to aem ems ?? both are standalone why why is kpro more popular .. i've heard its more street friendly... what about power wise?

Re: Technical Boosting Questions

i run a manual of course. someone mentioned earlier that aem ems was ment more for drag and kpro was for street. also kpro is alot cheaper. mind is set now. dezod kit, 525i think cc injectors, aem gauge type boost controller, either aem or greddy piggy, some type of auto timer, the basics. anyone know around where i'll hit with this? with the dezod 2.5 inch downpipe i will get 2.5 all the way back. so my skunk2 megan racing setup will be fs soon. also withe the custom exhaust piping whats a good muffler? i was thinking of just going with the skunk2 like i already have.

Re: Technical Boosting Questions

a good muffler is one that is painted black so the cops don't bother you lol! sleeper FTW

K-pro is a lot more user friendly than the aem ems you can literally jump in and start tweaking with your parameters right off the bat. the problem with k-pro is there is a limit to how much power you can squeeze out of it which I think is something like 800. but if you car is putting out 800 it is probably not going to be very streetable anyways. K-pro is really nice at getting a car to idle right and making it very friendly and comfortable on the street. were the AEM ems is not really worried about the comfort of how streetable the car is.

go to http://www.evans-tuning.com/ he has a chart setup that tells you what is good to use for what horsepower level there is also a lot of turbo info on there.

Re: Technical Boosting Questions

ya so kpro definately good for the d17's.

thoughts update: if rufus's head is still available i will try to buy it tomorrow pending on shipping costs. ive got my heart set on stage 2 turbo cams so im gonna build it unless its already done by the man himself. that way i can squeeze out a little more fun. next comes the dezod kit. decided no piggy. just gona wait it out for kpro. im in no hurry.

Re: Technical Boosting Questions

In about 45 days, I'm gonna have a stock head with Crower Stage 2 cam and valve springs for sale. Not that I want to take a sale away from Dallis....

Re: Technical Boosting Questions

if you're using k-pro, go ahead and get the stage 3 cam.

"Everyone talks about crower's stage I, II, and III cams, which one should I use? Will the car run decent with these cams?
Here are my thoughts on aftermarket cams. On a stock vtec head, I couldn't make more than 260-ish whp. No matter how much boost I threw at it or what I did, the stock cam would not let me get over that mark. I installed a stage III cam and instantly jumped from about 260-335 whp on 18 psi of boost. That's a 75 whp gain from just a cam with springs and retainers. If you want to run a stage II because you think it's more "streetable," I'm sorry but you're mistaken. It's a myth. My car is daily driven and runs as smooth as butter, even at idle and is extremely streetable and fun to drive.

Honestly, why would you want to run a cam that didn't give you the maximum flow benefits, especially if there are zero drawbacks to running it, not to mention, IT COSTS THE SAME AMOUNT!!! My advice to anyone, whether turbo or n/a, if you want max power out of your engine, run the stage III."

I was, but I have changed my plans. Just dropped $1100 on coilovers for momma's new car so I'm not selling my head till this summer. Give Dallis a bit, he'll get back to you.

Re: Technical Boosting Questions

couldn't u make a custom turbo kit and just use the dezod ic piping? ie, hks manifold with t25 turbo with dezod ic piping + ic.....

just wondering cuz i thought all the turbo manifolds oriented the turbo the same way....

no not all manifolds the same way necessarily. you could make it fit with minor modification of course.
