New turbo install has begun
Re: New turbo install has begun
man, your numbers are crazy. this must be a first to see those kind of numbers on a d17a2. its amazing how someone can take a car that comes with 130hp and with some determination and will power, make it into a 450hp beast.

Re: New turbo install has begun
lol, i was just using as an example.
but from what honda says its got 127hp. im guessing thats right out of the factory on to a dino, with zero miles. but more realistic numbers are like what you said.

No he's not. Andy is a punk with a leaf blower strapped to his intake. The only handle that man has ever turned is a broom handle. Ask Rufus.

Going back to the noise that I heard, it was exactly like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXpIOTq15h4
the video is a supra on the dyno, not the first one, but the second one, you hear the car revving higher, then all the sudden it just sounds like static noise. kind of like the noise that you hear when you stick your head out the window going 70 mph. Does your guy's cars make that noise like in the video?

Re: New turbo install has begun
Yeah, my turbo is ridiculously loud when it hits full boost.
I've been having some boost leak issues from the wastegate and up until now, I didn't realize how bad it had gotten.
Yesterday, I replaced the diaphragm and 12 psi spring in the wastegate, put in a new solid gasket btw the wg and mani and all new lock washers on all four wg bolts and holy **** does that thing spool stupid fast now. I'm hitting 20+ psi by 4500.
Only problem is, the diaphragm doesn't want to stay seated. The boost is wanting to spike straight to 26 psi. Looks like I'm giving up on the tial and going to give the synapse synchronic a shot. Will keep updated.

Gayness. Ok, problem solved with the wastegate. Turns out kpro wanted to be a glitchy ***** and not accept my changes to the ebcs duty cycle. I finally told it to stop being a ***** and it worked. Held 8 psi in 2d gear all the way to 8k. New 10 psi spring coming in tomorrow. I'll throw that ho in and should be all set for 30 psi of fun on Saturday.

Re: New turbo install has begun
I seriously doubt I'll see 500. I'd have to do headwork to get there. Everything in the setup is capable of reaching that mark, but the head just isn't efficient enough to get me there with this turbo. I'd have to step up to a 35, but I'm not that worried about it. 475 is good enough.
But who knows, depending on who else makes closer numbers, it may end up being worth it to do a full pnp with oversize valves and a valve job to see if we can't make 525+.
Thanks for the support, guys.

well andy, as ive seen uve spent some big bucks and in the right place, done so much and officialy are the fastest out there (never know, maybe some geometry freak in phillipines or japan might just be a bit faster, but oh heck) so why not spend an extra 1000 and go for the pnp? itll FOR SURE hit 550+ at 30 psi with a new wastegate and tune
if u dont have an apexi avcr as a boost controller i advise u to go for that and raise upto 2.2 bar

Re: New turbo install has begun
I very seriously doubt that I will get the VE up enough in this cylinder head with only 1 camshaft to surpass 500 whp, it's not feasable.
And thanks for the advice on the boost controller, but why in hell would I ever want to consider an ebc when I have completely limitless control of boost at every gear and every rpm that I want with kpro? That would be like going from a stage 3 to a stage 2 camshaft....doesn't make sense, does it?
