But yeah, regardless that its a manual...that sure didnt (and isnt) going to stop me from modding it haha
U can look at most of my parts in my signature, but i have a few more..like the new mirrors i got w/led singals when i turn + they are painted mag. metallic too! lol
Yes my rents pretty much payed everything for the car (except i paid like the 1st payment)...but i worked my *** off to get money to pay for my car parts except for the koni shocks and mirrors (they were b-day and then christmas present)

Ok, not to be mean, or talk bad about ur wife or n e thing (no disrespect) but i bet she said no to the stick, because it was the stick that got her pregnant in the first place. lol jj, but y didnt she want a stick? like does she know how to drive stick?
My car used to be my mom's car.
Bought it new in January 2001.
Frankly, I did not want it because it's a Civic... But my father bought my mom Mazda 3 and gave me the Civic. That's why I'm stuck with Automatic Civic. -_-;;
But now I've been driving it for almost 2 years and I have created this bond with my car.
Unfortunately I still hate Civics, but oh well... at least I don't hate my car.

Haha~
I guess it sounded more offending than I intended.
I apologize for that.
I do like some Civics on this site that has good engine, suspension, and body modifications.
It's the fact that so much money has to be spent to get the car up to those levels where I consider 'decent' and I don't like that fact.
I just don't brag the fact that I drive a Civic...
And unfortunate thing is... my friends really diss on my car just BECAUSE it's a Civic.
Like if I tell them I'll get a suspension or turbocharger, they'll be like "What?? You spending money on that CIVIC??? I'd rather sell the car and get other used cars that are actually WORTH modifying."
I hate that they diss on my car like that... but I really don't have much arguement against it.
It's proven that the mods won't do much gains for D17 without forced induction... Even then the gain isn't that huge compared to other Honda engines.
Plus I'm not sure how strong EM and ES chassis are. EP3 chassis is the chassis for Civic Type R, so I know the Si's chassis is decent. But EM2 and ES chassis were not built on the same purpose as EP3 chassis. So I don't know if the chassis can handle all the stress from sport driving.
Sure, the cornering can be improved by putting on better suspensions, tires, tie rods, and etc. but if the chassis is weak, it'll twist and crack, and your car's done for.
I'm sure the chassis can be fixed up so it can take all the beating from hard cornering, but that's another thousands of dollars...
Oh, and I don't care how fast I can go in straight lines. Not big fan of a drag racing and street racing. All I care is the car's cornering performance.

as for B16, truth, but have u ever considered swapping your motor with a k20 (usually found in RSX's) yea (» The K Source » K Series VTEC Breakdown)
oh yeah and as for your friends, and having an argument to diss them right back, stay on the site a while, and u will find more than enough counterarguments. Trust me.
Like how much did your mom spend on your car? What cars do they drive (how much did they spend)? What is their opinion of a "used car worth modding?" Also whats ur idea of a "decent" civic?
Hehe~
I don't post on the forum quite often, but I've been around this forum for quite a while, and learned few new stuff about my car.
As for my friends, it's hard to argue against them while one of roommate has E36 Beemer. It's only a 318is, but still that thing is faster than my car... by quite a lot since his is manual while mine is automatic.
Yeah, I know Zzyxz is autocross guru and knows lots of things regarding autocross and road racing...
But I'm still not so sure about rigidity of ES2 chassis (EX sedan chassis). Not that I'll push the car till the chassis twist or cracks, but just in case...
I also know that engine swap is a good choice to make our 7th Gen faster, but it'll cost quite amount of money and things seem to be a bit more complicated. I was really considering engine swap for my car if I had money and if I decide to keep the Civic.
The decent used car would be... E36 3 series (not 318 though), MR2, S14 240SX, and 97+ Prelude. Maybe some other decent cars also.
We payed MSRP + Dealer Markup for 2001 Civic. It was new model at the time and yes... my parents didn't bother to negotiate back then.
My idea of decent Civic would be a Civic with K20A with some N/A modification. I know K20A2 is as good as K20A so I wouldn't mind K20A2 either. About 230 or so WHP is good enough for me.
TEIN SS coilover, Brembo brakes, tie rods, braces, 16 or 17 inch rims with performance tires. And of course, rear disk brake conversion.

Well, in 2004 my brother and I found a wrecked 2004 Civic with a few thousand miles for about $4000. Fixed it up for about $5k... My Accord was getting old and instead of selling the Civic I decided to get rid of the Accord, and here I am with one of the cheapest Civics on this forum!
I would have liked a manual, but after I found out how slow these cars are without sticking a whole lotta money in them, I got over it... The front end is still a little fu<ked up, hood and headlights don't line up perfectly but, oh well.

I got a 2001 Civic EX that was an auto and then about a year after owning it i changed it to a 5 speed and Im loven it!!!!!!.....it was hard work but so much better.. It just seams like you lose so much HP when you have an auto..

My story: when I was 17, I bought my own car. Originally I wanted an early 90's civic hatch, but my dad talked me into buying a 1999 Mazda 626 - cause "I had an 87 Mazda 626, and it lasted me almost 12 years - so its a good car." Granted it was my money, so I should have just gone with my first choice - but on the other-hand, having a newer car that was loaded wouldnt be bad...right?
WRONG!! I bought a 1999 Mazda 626 LX, it too was automatic because at the time I hadnt mastered the manual tran. and didnt feel comfortable driving one. Anyways - I bought the car for $3000, everything was gravy for the first 4 months. Then it was just one thing after another. The first BIG thing was my transmission went to ****, and I needed a new one. We had a warranty on the car, but we argued with the warranty people because they said it was something I did. The people at Mazda said otherwise (something done over a long period of time...as in...before i had the car.) Regardless, they refused to pay for it, so we wound up paying $4000 for the rebuilt tranny and other ****.
After that, other small **** kepot breaking and what-not. Belts were the biggest thing. No matter if you put it on prefectly, had it torqued to specs and everything, within a week - the belts would break, causing the car to over-heating. Finally torwards the end of 7months of owning the car - it started knocking, andalways ran funny. We took it to the local garage, and they told us that the oil-pump had been failing, that oil was not properly flowing through out the engine, and that it was backfiring through the intake. It was at that point that the guys at the garage told us it would be best to let the car go. So we "did"(<---ill get to that)
So finally, after a month of not using my car (it had sat in the garage all that time) I come home from class, and my parents tell me that they have someone coming to tow the car away - and asked if i could help push it out of the garage, and into the driveway. I walk out into the garage, not really paying attention - walk right up to "the car" only to realize they had bought me a brand new Civic VP right off the show-room floor and put it in the garage to surprise me.
So basically I had no say in what kinda of car, what color, what packages, or what TRANSMISSION I got. Regardless, I'm very greatful that they bought me the car
....but somethings will be changed

uh so my story is simple. my mom wanted a new car. choice, 05 civic. i asked her to get manual since i wanted to use it, but she didnt want to. few months later she gets a deal on some bmw wagon and tells me i can used the civic. soooooooo here i am with a auto civic :/ but can't complain. at least i can get around. actually now that i think about it. its not even my car. haha, so i guess my mom should be posting here on this forum then huh? haha.
well i was tired of my old car(93 maxima)it kept breaking down,so i sold the damn thing.
after a lot of hassle getting rides to work,i decided to get me a new car,so i went to the dealer and i they only had 3 civics there(all 03 ex coupe auto),so i asked if they could of get a manual civic for me and they said that i had to wait a least 3 weeks, and since i was tired of not having a car i said f**k it and got me an auto 03 ex NHBP wich i regret now(the automatic part because other than that i love my vic).

manuals do get old. trust me, there are plenty of days where i get tired of shifting, especially 2 hours into stop and go traffic. however, i do like not having to worry about burning out a slushbox, and i can downshift to get up a hill! haha suckers.
I have was at a dealership a couple years ago looking for a car. I went to hondaland, go figure. I found this clean 2000 civic si. Electron blue and eveyrthing and i wanted it sooo bad! They wanted 14 for it, and a couple days later it was gone. Another car they had was like 94 ls integra or something. Silver with rims n eveyrthing. A ton of bolt ons too. We made an appointment to have a sit down with my parents and everything because...theyre just lazy and came unprepared or somethin. We come back and the integra was sold. I took another lap around and found a black 2002 civic ex that was stick and it had rims and eveyrthing, it was so clean! my parents didnt want to pay the 16,000 sticker price and then they found my....2002...civic...ex...automatic.......They talked my parents into getting it for 12 g's. Not a bad deal but..i really didn't have a word in it being my first car. I love the 7th gen civics because of how they look, ecspecially my coupe but the auto tranny was just lame. So here it is in my hands. Its um...cute.
