Rep Power: 0 oh, and if you really want, balancing/blueprinting engine (kind of a must since you're going all out n/a on it, can't have anything off) about another $1000. then there's stiffer engine mounts, another 300 or so. shortshifter, msd ignition, perhaps higher performance battery, plug wires, coils, alternator, pulleys, upgraded sleeves to take those high temps caused by high compression/high revs (about another 1000), then there's paying for shipping/handling, taxes, labor for installing all the parts... i think it will actually get over 15k...
then there's converting to a return fuel system in the 7th gen... and having to make lots of custom parts since no one likes our car...
disclaimer: This is simply a rant by a bored man at work. Do not take this as an official engine build, and ricergribbs does not provide any kind of waranty/guarantee that this build is viable. Furthermore, Ricergribbs is in no way responsible if you actually go out and buy all these parts and later figure out they don't work on your d17. Most of them are d16 parts, simply used for reference purposes. Ricergribbs cannot be held accountable if you do actually redneck some of these parts in and then your engine explodes. Lastly, Ricergribbs hopes you realize that the cost:hp ratio of this build is considerably higher when compared to the cost:hp ratio of a FI build. Ricergribbs cannot be held accountable for wasted funds if you don't believe this, go out and buy all the parts, and then realize that you've actually lost HP due to the shitiness of the d17.

Rep Power: 266 Pretty much. I think I'm just watching to see how far this goes before it gets closed. There's actually a mod online now, locking bullshit threads. It's about damn time.

Rep Power: 0 besides, if you read you'll notice that someone mentioned d16's, and i claimed that they had 15k+ dropped into them, so in reality it makes sense for me to use d16 parts to prove that point...

Rep Power: 0 but yeah, check out that list. that's pretty much everything i could think of, and don't forget to add a bit of cash (couple thousand prolly) since you'll need lots of custom parts.
