ive been running my car for 2 years with a layer of screen, a double layer of nylon stocking, and then another later of screen hose clamped to the compressor and have yet to have a problem. I would advise a filter but if you are carefull you can usually get away without it.

Not to mention our manifold places the turbo in a pretty high spot and it would be pretty hard to land exactly in there. If you live on a dirt road, then I would recommend taking some precaution.
What about water getting into the inlet when it rains. Where the turbo sits it seems it would suck in a bit of water on the highway. Or would it be OK, also is the turbo spool louder with a open inlet.

Think of it as a CAI when it rains. Dont go blasting throug big puddles. My turbo sits really low, much lower than any DEZOD kit. I cant go through any moderate sized puddles. I have driven it in downpoors and it has yet to miss a beat. I actually had more trouble with my CAI way back in the day. I'd still be very careful though.

Well Chris just called and told me some good news...........

He picked up a set of NGK Iridium (2 steps colder) plugs from us last week. Installed and noticed, immediate better idle, response and power...I was curious as to how much power he said he felt.......he strapped down to the dyno for 1 glory pull and low and behold..............171whp. That is a 7whp gain on his app.

I wonder what the difference would have been if he put a filter on the turbo and had a dumptube...

Probably another 10-15 whp easy....

You'll actually lose power running the compressor inlet open. And without a dumptube, you're spewing all of that hot exhaust air all in front of the motor, displacing all of the cool air that would normally cool the turbo, engine, etc....

Just doing those small things should yield some decent gains.

Kit looks great though, I am impressed.

its not bad to have a little water in the intake. in fact it can help with motor deposits. just as long as your not submerging the inlet you should be fine. it may even cool your intake temps a fe degrees. peopel run water injection kits allthe time in the forced induction. with the top or even mid mounted turbo you will rarley ever see water deep enough to do damage
