Swap Question
Swap Question
Hey all, I been reading about swaps into the 7thgencivics, I know that since I have a 2005 Civic, I won't be able to put a K20A2 motor in, since its a older motor.. I was wondering if they made K20A motors in 05`.
spell check pwns you

k20a2 is in 05 and 06 type s. you can put a bunch of motors. k20z3(new si) k20a3(7thgen si) k24a1(crv) k24a2(tsx) etc etc
p.s. try searching this has been covered so many times

u can basically put any k20 motor in there.. there is no way for them to know what year the car came out unless they tracked it... but even then they wont be as strict on it.. as long as its the same generation of cars... look at it this way...
what if you blew the d17 motor u have in your car right now and its an 05.. u go to the junkyard and find an 02 motor with only 2000miles on it to replace the motor... its the exact same motor but its older than the car you have...
will they give a sheit??.... no.. if you wanna be technical about it then yea ur not supposed to be putting older motors in your car thats lower than a 2005... but will they care.. in my honest opinion.. NO... the 2 motors are identical from the time the air enters to intake to it exits the exhaust its all the same...
you gotta remember that the only reason they say that is for emissions purpose... basically all 01-05 civics and newer to 02-05 rsx and anything newer all now use the same type of emissions control..
so as long as you stay within your generation then you will be fine

as much as what i said does make sense... you gotta think about it... even if you do the swap.. do they check to make sure your motor in your car is the oem motor...??? in the 3 different states i have lived in they have never once checked the motor... as long as you pass there emissions tests and what not then you will be in the clear
