im interested in seeing this ducting.
Is it going to be fabbed from aluminum?
That would look cool, but i think using some foam to create a template then glassing one would be pretty badass, and more efficient. Plus you wouldnt need a TIG welder.

Whoa whoa .... way to complex.... NACA ducts are premolded... they got a 3" hose port on the back, and you hook flexible tubing to them, which gets aimed where you want it.
Foam molding sounds possible, but that can be a later project.
I'll put it in the "improvements" column... thats not a "make it work" item.

nice work but mock up= waste of time. i understand why but i could not resist finishing it once i saw it on there! i think missing one race would be worth the boosting. i had to miss an import shootout just to finish mine but in the end it will all be worth it.

well having already paid $335, I wasn't missing the weekend to boost the car a little early. I can wait. I didn't have everything anyways, so I can live without it for another week.

yea, waiting a bit wont kill ya.
Believe me, i waited for a year for the correct parts.
375 days to be exact, from the time i ordered the parts and sent them the specs, to the day i got the car running. It was already worth it. And im not even boosting yet, the turbo is going in this weekend.

hey boiler... if you want cheap *** effective 2 1/2 hosing go homedepot and then to the section where they got industrial vacuums. One thats by "RIGID" and they sell like a 10 feet flexable hosing for 15 bux that would work great for some air to the SMIC. just cut to the right length and bending all around where ever it needs to go. i used those vacuum products to make my own intake ahaha worked nicely. got nice throttle responce and LOTs of smooth traveling cold air.

Everything is installed but the oil drain. Everything is being a total bastard. We spent 14 hours fighting every step of the way to get stuff installed, and the oil drain just doesn't clear the downpipe. I had to overnight hard line from Summit, I hope to at least start the car tomorrow afternoon.

awesome, I commend you on doing it one-off!
So, how much difference do you think the extra power will make in the twisties?

WE HAVE BOOST!!!!!!
Took 6 or 7 tries to get the oil line bent right, but we hooked it up and fired this baby up. I had the warning set to 3 psi, which I had no trouble making well before 3K RPM in any gear. This ****er is gonna fly once its tuned... right now its so rich its laughable. The UEGO is showing 10:1 on boost, and I think thats just cuz thats as low as it registers.

Excuse the disaster of vacuum lines and excuse the Gatorade catch can (that's gonna be the next craze, wait and see.... )

This was fun... not

Under the car... fits like OEM

Heres some more of the "creative" but very PITA to make stuff work around downpipe

Best number so far... 0 = the number of CELs its thrown.

Man, I remember when you first told me you were going to do this... I almost fell out of my seat. And now look at you! Congrats man, you deserve it. You are the perfect example of "do your homework, and it'll be worth it at the end of the day"

I suppose I better do the thank yous as well... here goes, this may get long.
Luke and Rob, my buddies who slaved over this thing for over 14 hours to get this thing in the car and running.
Phil who let us use his driveway to do it
Tom (Tfnaaf) who gave me his basemap tune for e-manage and give me lots of info about lots of turbo this and that
Dezod who put up with my e-manage n00biness
Edwin (skipbarber) who's been my local "need to boost" online support group for the last few months. Now I gotta get your *** boosted.
And everyone else on here who came up with a valuable answer to some of the dumb questions I thought of over the past 5 months or so. It all works now, so Thanks a lot everyone.
In case anyone is wondering about what all I shoved under there.......
Garrett GT28R w/ a 7psi GT28RS actuator hung on ATP turbo's universal WG bracket
-4 oil feed w/ .035 restrictor
-10 hardline return
-6 water feed lines in series with TB heater return
HKS cast iron manifold, Jet-hotted
Downpipe is custom
intake pipe is custom
compressor housing is semi-custom (Garrett M24 housing w/ 90 degree elbow added to compressor out)
Intercooler is custom
Charge pipes are pretty non-existent.
Bosch/Porsche DV, recirculated into the intake pipe (If you go the Bosch route, make sure you use the PORSCHE valve, the Bosch part number is 0 280 142 108 DO NOT USE THE VW/AUDI/SAAB/VOLVO valve. They look the same from the outside, but only the Porsche one has a brass pent roof diaphragm, the rest have a flat roof rubber diaphragm which leaks under boost.)
PCV eliminated
valve cover vent and PCV are catchcanned w/ slash cut vacuum source in the intake pipe
K series 310 CC injectors
E-manage with all 3 harnesses and the boost sensor
NGK BCPR7ES plugs, gapped to .028
AEM UEGO
Defi-link is still all hooked up
