2pay Or Not 2pay

There is alot of mixed opinions about DIY turbos. My question is do you think it's worth the 5-8 hundred dollars for a install on a TSI kit. I have the interface block with 2 injectors i'm not trying to run high boost just something good for the street. I can do the mechanically stuff w/no problem but the fuel setup and wiring is not my area. EYES_ON_YOU said he knows how to put it on and he lives in my area but he said he did'nt want me 2 use the TSI fuel set up. I just wana BOOST and keep a few dollars in my pocket. The shop that i went 2 has never done a TSI kit he said he knows he can do it but he says he has to do research. I guess what i wana know is how complicated is the TSI kit w/o instructions i might add? Or should i let the shop do it!!! Or should eyes_on_you be a cool a$$ guy and do it for me for a few $$$ since he has experience? Thanks Fellas

sounds like its up to you. I plan on installing mine myself and have someone else tune it. I want to install everything on my car for helping the trouble shooting in the future. Good luck

Good advice i guess i should'nt second guess myself,after all i am a mechanic or atleast that's what the Army pays me to say. I just don't wana mess up anything all these turbo horror stories kinda got me nervous. Thanks for the input

when it comes to paying for someone to **** it up and you ****ing it up yourself.... always choose ****ing it up yourself. Then at least you're not out the install money.
Take it somewhere who knows what they're doing on do it yourself, or spend the money and do it semi-right with new injectors and an e-manage.

Do it yourself. It is easier than you think. Besides, you will able to learn alot and have the satisfaction of telling ppl that you installed it yourself.

I love you guys!!! (NO HOMO) But i can always count on my fellow 7thgener to boost a brotha up,no pun intended. Seriously you guys are right i don't know y i'm so timid when it comes to doing stuff 2 my car maybe i'm lazy!! But one thing i'm not is rich so any buck i can save i need to do so. Guess it's off to the Search button to find as much diy stuff on the TSI as possible mainly fueling and electrical.

sheeeettt, i change my oil, and flush my fluids all the time except for my trans fluid. Air filters, cabin filter, brakes, spark plugs, and i haven't fudged up yet...just a lil research and turning to my fellow 7thgen owners here

if you do it yourself, you are much likely to be able to fix anything that may go wrong later on. Most people who have someone install it for them cant fix a damn thing. If an IC pipe comes loose, they simply go "I press the gas and the car so PSHHHHH and theres no go fast juice and the car is slow!". And the people who did it themselves go "well dumbass, why dont you slip the IC pipe back into the coupler and tighten the clamp". Then the other guy goes "well, i dont know how to use a screw driver and i dont know what im doing, so i will pay a shop $30 to work on my car for 5 mins."

No offense to you non-DIYers that actually do work on your own cars.

i know exactly the type of person your talking about, one of my soldiers in my squad used 2 be like that until i threatned to beat his a$$. This boy paid $20 buck 2 have his stereo bridged. An then sold the same stero set up (two JL7's for $50 bucks) in box. Can't complain 2 much i got 2 sony amps off his 500w brand new for $20. but he owed me. LOL

Install it yourself, it not hard if you're good with tools.
TSI injector box is easy to wire, just search for it in the f/i forums. One guy had a post on wiring, I used his thread and when all done, car started right and I've never had electrical issues at all.
tsi 2 injectors are a good alternative. A little less power then with emanage, but it idiot proove and can be adjusted any time and it vert flexible with settings, also it comes with tachometer, boost gauge and turbo timer. I give for it simplicity.

whats up bro .. i have the same kit as you and i started sunday ... didn't get far ..but first thing i did was grined off a lil part of the turbo manifold..cuz one part on the right side won't budge in ...because theres suttin hitting it like a bolt or sutttin ..u'll see it itz on the right side ....i'll take pictures sometimes this week to see what im talkin about .....but yah man, im using the same fuel set up w/ the block w/ two extra injectors ...but im putting in 310cc rsx type s injectors instead ...and once i save up im gettin the emanage ..well i hope u have the right tools for it.....u save alot of money if u do it urself...like me, i got numbers from pple from around my area that had tsi kit installed and helped me out alot ..their also from this forum as well ....but i'll keep u posted about my installing ... heres my aim: ijerzeepnoii

heres the fuel unit instruction .. i got it from someone in this forum..i forgot who though ..

oh yah ...tsi kit doesn't let u keep ur cat. ....ive gotten some helpful hints how to put my cat on from the pple in this forum ...


Wiring Diagram for TSI Unit

For those who are having trouble with the TSI Fuel Unit, try this out and see if it helps any.

1. Gray-RPM Signal.. i connected that to the blue wire that is in the hood by the negative terminal
2,3,4,5. Brown- connect that to the negative wire for the injector.. other side is connected to 12 volt postive battery
6. Green- No Connection
7. Black- Ground
8. Blue- Hand Brake- I took off the middle console and theres this little clip by the hand brake that is connected to a metal piece, and there are 2 wires leading from it, I simply took off the plastic clip, stuck the wire in the clip, and connected it back to the metal piece.
9. White- Ignition on 12V. Under the stearing wheel, there are thick wires, i connected this to the Black with yellow stripe wire.
10. Red- Battery 12V- There is the fuse box in the hood, and in the row closest to you when your infront of the car are 2 large screws, they are 12V sources, i unscrewed them and stuck the wire in there.
11. No Connection
12. Connect to ACC on 12V- Under the stearing column, it is the Black with Red stripe wire.

dam .... ....with that money u could buy an emanage , clutch, etc etc .... but as long as ur happily boosted den i guess its worth it for you ....does that price include tuning as well or jus to put it on ? ..well good luck bro ....tell me how it is !!! i got the same turbo as you ..

My suggestion....rsx injectors with an emanage is a far superior fuel setup than the tsi. There's a reason Phil told you not to go with the tsi. I've seen it on his car and it's really not the place to cut corners. Injectors and emanage are very simple. And I know the emanage inside and out. I offered to help you if you wanted.
