I'll be the first to tell you no. Its in no way possible to turbo your car for 500. Maybe if someone gave you a kit but i doubt you can even buy a decent turbo alone for 500.
With the right mechanical inclinations, you might be able to do it for around $1k, -maybe- with a lot of used parts and you performing all your own labour. Or at least thats what browsing http://homemadeturbo.com/turbo_projects/ has led me to believe

Well, I think I'll be the only one who will say "YES, YOU CAN"

Here is things you need to buy:
Ceased turbo - $10
Cracked manifold - $15 (may be less)
Leaking injectors - $25
Burned emanage - Free (?) correct me if I'm wrong
Bent intecoller pipes - any mufler shop can do it for cheap
Punctured intercooler - tons at scrup yard
A lot of other minor things, but dont worry about them, they usualy useless...
Fellow members is there anything else needed for a turbo kit??
Just post!

if you could, i'd have done it by now.....
j/k mang...no way by anyone i've talked to or researched myself..parts and tuning are just too expensive. like ^^ said...maybe if you got a lot of the parts for free, but even still, tuning may not necessarily be cheap. plus the little things will nickel-and-dime you past 500 bux.
good luck with it though, let us know how that works out for ya.

This would otherwise be known as the junkyard turbo where you go get a DSM 14b or something from a junked eclipse, rig a manifold out of a header and ghetto rig an intercooler up.
This wouldn't really work because..... there's no header that can be converted into a manifold like the old HF manifold that became popular because it was so short, there's not away to put suffecient fuel in the car w/o converting the system to a return ($500ish right there) and you need a way to futz around with the tuning.
So simply put, no 500 isn't gonna happen. Done right, plan on 4-5000 in new parts.
Kits can be picked up in the 1600 range + extras you still need).
I never really liked those ghettoturbo jobs anyways.... its something you'd do to a 200K mile junker, not a newish car.
