Taking off GSR Intake Manifold
I developed a small vaccum leak today on the GSR manifold. Im pretty sure it is just an injector o-ring.
Anyway, i have to take it off the car. I was going to add an additional 4 injector bungs to run my extra injectors. But im not sure what i am going to do now. I have been thinking, and i think the edelbrock performer-x manifold will outflow this one. I also modded it to fit the D17 TB, and since my friend owns RPM service (makes TB's for Erik's Racing, STR, IceMan, and DH Racing) i can get an 80mm TB for cheap. And since i am looking for 400+ whp, i need to remove any possible restrictions.
So for now, i am going to replace the injector o-ring until i take out my motor. And when the motor is out, i think i am going to sell this manifold. So if anyone wants it, shoot me some offers.
But yea, vaccum leaks **** me off. It is just large enough to make the car idle at 1500 RPM for about 5 seconds until the IAC compensates.
So take it from me, and do not re-use injector o-rings.

yea, i checked over all the lines. They were all fine. Then i just simply sprayed water into the injector bungs, and voila, the car bogged when the #4 bung was filler with water.
I just think that the Performer-X manifold would be better than the GSR.
i love the drivability of the GSR manifold. The low end torque and the high end power is much better. But im going to need to remove any and all restrictions. Im even doubting my turbo setup. But i dont have enough $$$ to build a conventional turbo setup and buy an AEM EMS. So im going with this turbo setup for now with the AEM.

Sweet, so you've decided to pick up the AEM after all? Smart move, man. I'm sure you know this before I even say it but just in case: You know that the b series takes three different o rings/seal rings, right? One goes on each end of the injector and one sits in the bung. A friend of mine forgot to replace the ones that sit in the bung and had fuel squirting out during his tuning session.

i have the stock D17 injector bungs on the manifold. I just think that re-using my o-rings 4 times is a bit much. <-- this is that innocent half-assed **** we were talking about on AIM last time.

i was leaning towards staying with a D16 manifold, because i would not have to modify the runners at all to make the ports line up. And the performer-x seems to be the manifold of choice for most D series street/strip guys
I would go with the Victor-X, but there is no way in hell i would spin the motor high enough to make the power for that (7,000-10,000 RPM)

What are your thoughts on a Venom or even a OBX manifold and converting it to a top mount TB. I've never heard any horrible reviews on the OBX intake manifold like the turbo manifold. I know that your planning on the side mount TB, but this is a thought i had for myself for being able to run larger injectors down the road easily and possibly gain some flow with the intake manifold.

i have heard that the OBX manifold is a horrible fit. And their long-term longevity has something to be desired.
I dont want to convert mine to a top mount, but i can do it pretty easily. Hell, if you bought the venom manifold for a D16 and drill out the bolt holes for a D17 and shipped it to me, i would be willing to convert it for you. Just cover shipping and maybe $20 for the gas/rod consumed.
But you would have to wait a few months. My surgery is a week from today.

We are going full steam ahead on a D17 IM with gentleman that used to work for Edelbrock and helped Honda's Race Team develop some parts.....Hope to have a kick *** IM ready in the next 4-8 weeks. We will be doing fuel rail, IM & TB

well dezod, i dont think i will be done with everything by then (thanks to my surgery coming up on TUESDAY!!!)
So maybe ill be the first to purchas one of your manifolds, as long as its reasonably priced (and if i can sell my GSR one to get some of the funds for it
)

Will the performer-X manifold fit in a stock engine bay or will you have to shorten the runners to make it fit?? I wanted to go with the performer-X but it's got like 9" runners and theres only like 10"-11" of room behind the engine without rerouting some things.

well, the D16 manifolds seem to fit just about the same in our engine bays as they do in the civic engine bays (depending on what year manifold you get).
So im going to try to make it fit.
