That's what I was refering to...I've seen thin "typo" at another thread...
I'm confused too...
But to the topic!
With FMU you can only adjust a/f ratio with wideband, and I doubt you can do much of any so to say tune...a/f and its about it..

well its going to be tuned on a dyno with a wideband. so im guessing he'll adjust the fuel pressure by reffering to the wideband. anyways i was just wondering if anyones done it cuz i know most people install fmu's themselves and dont really tune it.
but ya the only thing that will be tuned is the a/f, but thats the most important.

from my past experiences the dyno tailpipe wideband usually reads a/f approximately .5-1.0 point leaner than a wideband placed in the downpipe, just so you know

well thats better than it reading richer, also im sure the tuner is aware of that.

i'm pretty sure you wont be able to tune at different points in the rpm band with that fuel system. You can adjust the pressure overall so that it doesn't run so rich/lean but thats pretty much it.

do yourself a favor and get the emanage at least.

IMO FMU = POOP. Be carefull man, its not a very acurate way to be tuning a car at all whatsoever. If it was, why would people spend so much on engine management computers? I got a stock lower end for sale in a few weeks lol.

i dont know why everyones saying an fmu is a terrible way of managing fuel...your right a computer system that controls the injectors is better but if an fmu is tuned properly theres really no problem with it at all, its just a very simple form of fuel management.

your right it isnt controled by rpm, its controled by psi of boost.
but when it does a run on the dyno he will look at the wideband and know how to adjust the fuel pressure regulator.
i could have it street tuned with the wideband but once im tuning why not do it the right way, on the dyno.

Well here's the thing. The FMU works by spiking fuel pressure. The factory injectors will only efficiently spray so much fuel before they start to get really inconsistent. They are probably running at 70-80% duty cycle and doing so running optimal efficiently at around 42-47 psi. If they were RCs or something you can push em harder but those lil factory things arent gunna like it. Hell what do I know, I only have a 212 whp d17 on 5.5- 5.8 psi. lol Do what you like but you might find out in a hurry just how bad things can get. I have witnessed cars on the dyno have major catastrophies because of FMUs. As far as I have seen FMU shoud stand for "F***s Motors Up". hehe

well you are right about the fuel pressure stressing the injectors a bit but at 4 psi of boost pressure (thats what im running with the fmu, maybe higher when i get ems) i dont think the extra bit of fuel pressure is really doing much because the injectors are made to fluctuate(spelling)
anyways in the end its a very arguable subject and we can leave it at that.

ya i know, at 4 psi i can probly get away with no fuel system, if all my sensors were hooked up right and all that....the ecu can handle that kinda boost.

So you'll spend $1500 on AEM EMS or even $500+ on Emanage but won't spend $200 or so to buy bigger injectors and a better fuel pump? DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME

Many turbo members like 02fpcivic and Andyman97 have been through alot more than you have and know the ups, downs, ends and outs about turboing the d17. Its truly is STEEP learning curve. I havent screwed anything up yet and thats because I did the research and know what to look out for.

when i can afford an ems i will get it, for now an fmu will do just fine with stock injectors at 4 psi

Good point, a 50 shot would be simpler as a temporary fix till all the parts for a turbo were in hand. Used nitrous kits sell descent too.
