A/F ratio while spraying
A/F ratio while spraying
I finally got my denso IK20's in. I tested the 50 shot out and the AEM wideband is reading between 11.5:1 to 12:1. This is at 900psi bottle pressure. I was wanting to know if I should try to go leaner or keep it like it is? I'd rather be a little rich, but I don't want to foul my plugs out or hurt the O2 sensors. More bottle pressure would probably make it a little leaner. What do you guys think?
BTW, I read on here that you don't have to gap the IK20's, but in the same thread it was said they should be between .030-.035. Mine are preset to .040-.045, which is actually what the factory plugs are set at. I already have them in and it's running fine. Should I regap them or just leave them like they are?

i dont know about your a/f but the plugs are set from the denso factory. the iridium compound may have something to do with the gap difference.

leave the plugs alone they are fine. IMO 12.5 afr is ideal when spraying. you can adjust by adding more pressure. what rpm are you getting the 11 afr? you should only be spraying at least 4k and above. if the 11's are happening at low rpm then it sounds like you are in there.
Yeah, my window switch has a 3000rpm "on" pill, but I didn't trigger the throttle switch untill I hit 4000. I have an rpm selector module on it's way, adjustable from 3000-5200. It was reading 11 at right above 4000rpms. I think I might have found part of the reason for the rich mixture. After I put my plugs in this morning, I tested it out for about 10 seconds or so. Then on my way to work, I thought I'd play around with it. Well It showed a 10.1 a/f ratio. I got to work and pushed the purge and nothing but air came out. My bottle was empty. I'm filling it back up tomorrow. I'll post my results with a full bottle at 900psi. If it's still rich, I'll step it up to 950psi.
