then why is it that the jdm type s is
9.8:1 compression
has real vtec on the intake side of 3 intake lobes
1 exhaust lobe
and puts out the same hp of 160...

so the jdm type s has real vtec on the intake side yet has the same hp as the USDM... why waste all that money????
hey thanks. You just further proved my point. You are essentially asking the same question there that I'm asking. See:

Good question though. Why did you waste $2800 on a jdm type s motor that is rated with the same HP as the base rsx/civic si?

Specs are right there, plain as day on the honda japanese website.

A K20A2 head on a K20A3 block is going to make more potential power that a jdm type S motor due to the 3-lobe on the exhaust. It would be cheaper to go that route too.

drivetofast/josh spent $1100 on a complete k20a3, minus subframe. $900 head and you have something better than a jdm type s swap.

I'm seriously considering buying a k20a3 later on and supercharge it, let's see...

well if you must know... for one the block does have individual oil squirters for each cylinder like how the k20a2 has.. the k20a3 doesnt have em so thats one of the benefits... the other thing is that i got a k20a2 head out of the deal so it was no biggie.. $2800 for a complete jdm type s swap with a complete k20a2 head... plus right now i am rated at 201hp on the dyno with intake header exhaust and kpro so you dont hear me complaining about what the stock number hp is supposed to be

I don't not believe you, but how do you know the block has oil squirters?

well ... I guess 1/4 mile times will only tell. Again, I don't not believe you, but there have been a lot of people who bring out inaccurate or false information...

i had to change my oil pan cause the one that shipped with the motor was cut open... obviously how else would i know... want me to open the bottom of my block once again to take pictures... i was curious where i got this motor just as much as anybody... and what specs it was.... based on that i knew that it had 3 intake and 1 exhaust lobe... oil squirters... and a compression of somewhere between 11 and 11.5 based off of volume tests.. not compression tests..because obviously nobody believed me when i said i had 3 intake cams and 1 exhaust cams... now they have actual documentation and i took pictures... dude i own a shop and been working on this motor since i got it.. basically your saying i dont know my own motor

how does 1/4 mile times have to do with the oil squirters?

1/4 mile doesn't have anything to do with oil squirters. it was an unrelated question.

I don't want you to open it up. I believe you ...

but as for having 11.5:1 compression ... that's something that I still cannot believe. both of us know jdm type s motors don't come with 11.5:1 compression unless someone swapped out the pistons, which I highly doubt would happen.

alright, i just read all 3 pages and id liek to know Xproductions, your K20 as the 3 lobes instead of 2, so does it engage in Vtec (i-VTEC) or VTC just like the usdm 160hp k20? and also do you have to lose a/c and power steering to fit in the K20?

yes technically me and you both agree that by OFFICIAL SPECs based off there website it does state it to be 9.8:1 compression and that what i thought it to be..

i was skeptical soooo
as for my motor having 11:1 - 11.5:1 compression is what gets me... remember that they did volume tests on the block... volume tests determine the type of compression unknown pistons have... which came up to be 11 something... but for a volume test to be that much off from a 9.8 to a 11 something is far to off

okay. I've already read quite a few times that you did volume tests on this and that other thread alone. However, you still fail to provide proof of them, as you did on clubrsx as well.

Hmmm... I always thought the JDM type-S was just the base RSX here... I guess I've been proven wrong.

interesting... like everyone else I guess, was the extra lobe/cylinder worth it?

does the extra love make it engage in full vtec? or is it VTC like the base rsx?

thats the thing... i was in the process of moving into my new house when i did the tests... so i lost alot of things.. a few parts.. and some paperwork.. they must be in one of my boxes that i have yet to unpack (its been sitting a while.. lol)... heck while i was looking that i was also trying to look for my dyno sheet which i cant find anymore.. but i am planning to pull the block again to put in some new stronger rods and pistons so when we do that i'll get some volume tests done again if i cant find the original paperwork then
