catch can
Hey whats up guys. I just wanted to know who has a oil catch can setup on their car. I see it on a lot of the cars in the magazines but don't fully understand the purpose of it. I'm running a custom turbo kit on my vic, is it a good thing to do. Any comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

the oil catch can collects any oil that is blown by into the crank case... you're gonna see a lil bit of oil collect which is normal... if you notice that the catch can is filling up pretty quickly, you might have blown piston rings...
for installation...
crankcase breather ---> catch can ---> turbo inlet intake piping (cold pipe) or tap a fitting back to the block

so I would need to run an intake pipe out of the turbo in order to install this. I don't have an intake pipe out of the turbo because the radiator hose is right there next to the turbo intake.

its possible to just run the valve cover to the catch can and then a breather filter on the other side of the catch can. Idealy the turbo intake pipe would run a hose to that side to help evacuate the crankcase. As for my system, im jsut running a breather on the valve cover and have had not even a drip of oil out of the breather!

In fact I drove my car for 4 months since I got the turbo installed with no problems at all. I don't know why people say you need a intake and a filter, thats a bunch of bull. I agree it would be a little safer. I don't mind anymore because my car is in the garage now since a bought my new truck. Thanks guys.

you can also run your NA car with just the throttle body as an intake. But without a filter, your car will die before its day.
Believe me, i didnt run a filter on my CRX because i really couldnt get a pipe to it thanks to the position of the turbo. Not only did i kill a turbo, but i also killed a motor.

you're sucking in about 3-4 times more air than normal... imagine the amount of dust and impurities in the air as it is... now imagine that dust and dirt going into your motor....
even if you stick the filter directly to turbo inlet, it would work....
