as far as the R18's go, too soon to know. Personally I don't know if it would be a benefit considering the exhaust manifold is integrated to the cylinder head. (i think that's how they designed it, i could be wrong)
**edit**
just observing this picture of the engine bay and noticing the passenger side motor mount, I doubt the r-series will fit in 7th gen civics.

the R series will fit, its just if there is a demand for a 1.8 liter, it will be so much easier to swap a k series into to a new civic because its the same exact car where its comming out of.
why would u want a 1.8 when there is a 2.0, the price vs. the amount of potential of a k series motor is just so much more than a r1.8

sorry to post *****, but from this pic, it doesn't seem that a strut bar will be easy to put in
I'm not sure if either one can work ... the drive by wire is still a major thing that needs to be worked out (unless someone already made it work)
I think the R18 will be very difficult in making it work ... too many things that are different ... which header to use ... drive by wire ... IMA ... etc.

seeing as how the cat appears to be RIGHT next to the exhaust ports ... it seems that every aftermarket header is going to eliminate the cat ...
then again, there are two cats

first off why would someone eould want to swap the 8thgen motor into a 7thgen... u know how expensive those motors will let alone finding one thats already been wrecked at the junkyard... cheaper swapping in a type-s and it will still produce the same results... on the other hand i think i might want the tranny for the LSD though...
and yes i know someone in florida that has swapped the k20z from the rsx into a 7thgen.. works the same just he needed to use a 02-04 rsx ecu instead and the clipover harness

i think theres a CONSPIRACY here.....................
those honda engineers are making the design harder to DIY.......why?
so more and more people will have to surrender their car to the dealer when something breaks..
now.......more visit to the dealer?
hm.........think about the labor rate we've to pay for them, JUST to take out that headlight (with increased complexity)....

besides they put the struts very close to the firewall so there probably isn't as much flex.
