1/2 Radiator for 7thgen

Is the only thing holding up using say a 1/2 Fluidyne radiator from an EG hatch in the 7thgen, the mounting points for the radiator? Say, I wanted to put one in my car, is that all i would have to worry about and if i figured out how to mount it, would the radiator work just fine? This is for a boosted 7thgen.

I would think it would be sufficient enough cooling because that 1/2 radiator is used to cool b16's, so now all you gotta worry about is getting it to mount securely.

check on the hose sizes and on the location of the overflow tank

with a turbo and added heat, wouldn't you want to go to a large capacity radiator?

maybe not so much in phila i guess, but down here in Fl., im putting in a koyo rad before a turbo.

if you have a high efficiency radiator, you shouldnt have to worry as much. If you use a radiator thats half the length, but twice the thickness (doesnt even need to be that thick) it should be fine.

It can only go so far however. The air is warmed up to a point where it cannot continue to cool the radiator after a certain thickness.

HondaLuver will become famous soon enough
alot of people that have turbos "upgrade" to a half size aftermarket... and most of them are getting over heating issues. and they eventually switch over to full size... go on honda-tech and look

im simply speaking from experience. I have built several 1/2 sized radiators for turbocharged cars. I have never had a problem.

Maybe its the cores i use. I dont waste money on a cheap *** core. I use the highest efficiency core available.

It can only go so far however. The air is warmed up to a point where it cannot continue to cool the radiator after a certain thickness.
this is true. But the honda core is very thin compared to others. doubling its thickness works very well.

The only reason i am going with a 1/2 core (which will be a little more than 1/2) is simply because if i dont, my turbo will not fit in my engine bay the way i want it to. I tried to squeeze an oversized turbo into the engine bay of my crx. One day I broke several motor mounts while at the track, which immediately pushed my turbo through my radiator. And it is never fun to be towed home from the track.

Don't forget alot of ppl running these half sized cores on honda-tech are running huge fmic blocking air and using insufficient fans(Stock fans). Half sized aftermarket rad w/ two pusher slim fan will cool just as effiecient as a full-size. Not saying full-size isn't better but some of the info is a lil bias.
