Question about Pistons?
My friend has an older model civic and he bought some low compression pistons but before he had the chance to install his car was totalled. He offered to sell me his pistons but i was wondering if they will fit our cars. They are 75mm pistons and he says they will fit i was wondering if you guys had any idea about this. I hope they work this would be great for my turbo setup.
they may fit if they are for a d16. What you really need to do is order 1 d17 piston from honda, for which ever exact model yo may have, for example an EX/D17a2 would be PN 370680 at $28. Take that. and one of his pistons to a performance engine builder and have him measure it up. He should be able to give you an idea on if it will work. I know for a fact you can swap over to a whole d16 rotating assembly if you use a d16 oil pump so the low compression pistons might fit if the wrist pin diameter is the same.
they won't fit
Even a .0111 mm off, will throw it all out of wack.
Just get the right parts.
The parts are the cheapest step of building an engine,
Taking an engine appart and putting it together cost the most $$$$
You want to do it right the first time.

JE pistons, any of those places will make a custom order piston for u, u just have to know the specs and dimensions. sometimes they require a stock piston. which from the dealer is not that expensive last time i checked. two years ago. CP is a good brand, we got those for the WRX

Would it be OK to put low compression pistons in before running turbo? I want to get low compression pistons and new rods and a new cam, then add the turbo so I can run more boost safely...

just remember that by putting lower compression pistons and a turbo cam in when your not FI, the car will most likely have less power than stock.
