Getting a Turbo Ported or polished
Getting a Turbo Ported or polished
Would it make a big difference if I were to have my turbo polished. Such as would it be beneficial to getting extra horsepower or would it help do anything to add any extra performance from the turbo?? I would also like to know if or how this would effect the manifold if it was to be done the same way. I guess i'm trying to say would it be worth it to get it ported or polished or would that be just to make it look pretty???
Thanks for any information you may have about this.

If I was you, I would install the turbo with out doing the port and polish...
Install it 1st.. make sure it runs fine, and after lookin at dyno charts and lookin at your car runnin perfectly on A/F then you knw you wont have to worry about buyin extra things. (unless you break something).
But in my opinion,. if you get your car running right %100. And you want to trow a little bling under your hood. go ahead and do it after you've already ran it with out the polish...
The reason for this is. If you dont get your car runnin right the 1st time.. the money that you spent port and polishing, you can spend it on the items your missing or tunnin in order to make the car run right.

/\ /\ /\ You beat me to that commment
My opinion however is very different than the above:
If you Extrude hone your turbine side, you were UNDOUBTEDLY experience faster spool up and less boost onset...granted my experience in this comes from the Nissan side of the house (sr/ka)...but I can't see it 'not' helping out for you guys (especially those with smaller engines pushing large turbochargers (those with large t3 hybrides especially...
I can't see either method creating much peak power, but who wants that anways..???
Doing the extrude will just bring power on much sooner...and in return creating even bigger grins on your face!
Small engines + Large turbos biggest problem is lag and boost onset...so in my opinion anythign that can help stop both is good by my standards!!!
((I know for my silvia project, I'm most definetly getting the turbine and OEM cast manifold extrude honed...nothign beats 300 ft lbs and HP at 3000 rpm to 320 ft lbs and 370 hp at redline :] ))
