To custom turbo or not.....

Before i get the whole,
"search you moron"

i've done my reading on the site and searching and i just wanted some opinions and options before my baby gets fed the boost!

i have my emanage sitting in my room and i have some stuff on order.

From those of you that have you D17 boosted, did you find that purchasing from vendors was cheaper and more reliable then piecing together a custom set up.

I find that its cheapter to get your Boost controller and BOV from just shopping around, but stuff like mani and downpipe are harder to come by.

what is your guys advice when it comes to your kit and if you were to do it again, would you build your own or buy a kit from whoever

thanks,
jonny

build your own, its cheaper, will look better, fit better (depending on what parts u choose), and be unique.

i highly suggest getting the SFP externally gated manifold or the turbo performance externally gated manifold and i do believe that for daily driving and weekend warrior a T3 is an excellent affordable choice. also, a steel braided oil drain line is better than a blue rubber one.

if you need any help or have any questions please feel free to PM me.

please note that:

1) when i said cheaper, i was assuming u have some automotive knowledge like making ur own charge pipes and installing the parts yourself where you will save money in labor. you can also buy used products or shop around for the lowest prices, for example ebay.

2) when i said fit better, i meant u have to choose ur parts carefully, like i suggested, according to people who owns the 2 manifolds i mentioned above, the manifold itself, wastegate placement, and turbo placement fits properly without hitting anything. downpipes have matching manifolds, so either make ur own downpipe or buy one that matches the manifold u choose.

LMFAO, going custom is better because you can get what you want. But trust me you willl run into headaches and you will get pissed off alot. And it's not necessarily cheaper. In general, a premade kit like Dezods will give you less headaches. It;'s your own choice though =) This isn't something we can decide for you. Personally I got fed up with my custom one
