Emanage Questions

Alrighty, got several emanage questions.....

First off, I have a dx. I plan to boost it in the very near future. I already have my emanage and everything for it. I want to wire it in and run it stock to make sure everything runs right. Shortly after I begin boosting again, I plan to swap in a built bottom end with a vtec head. Eventually I want to switch to an aem ems, but that'll come later. For now I want to get the most out of the emanage that I can.

So, from what I've read, no adjustments need to be made on the emanage for a completely stock motor, right? It will run just as stock with all ignition and fuel maps set at zero, correct?

Jumper differences between ex and lx/dx....I know the jumpers on the circuit board have to be set differently to make vtec work....but if I set them for vtec, will it still function properly without vtec?

Actual wiring differences and function of emanage without vtec ecu. Will I be able to run vtec with a non vtec ecu with the emanage? If so, how will I need to wire it? The same as the vtec, I take it? I know this can be done on a vafc, but not sure how it will function with a non vtec ecu. From what I understand, the emanage just interperets and adjusts the vtec point...will it control it by itself? How will this need to be wired.

What other wiring differences are there between vtec and non vtec with the emanage? I remember reading someone's post that they were wired very differently but I'm not sure which wires are different.

What about the missing link? I plan to use the missing link (unless I don't need to.) I have the boost pressure sensor that I am going to use with the emanage, I guess I will need the missing link as well? And just run the boost pressure sensor off of the manifold, right?

I did search, I've been on these forums for a long time and have read all the faq's about emanage wiring, etc. and I've searched but can't find the answers to these particular questions so any help is appreciated.

Drk01Civic is an unknown quantity at this point
1) If you leave all the maps set to zero your car should run like the emanage isn't even there.
2) I have an LX and I set my jumpers like the FAQ for the EX and everything is fine.
3) I have been wondering the same thing. I've been trying to think of ways for it to work. I know nobody has been able to get it to work on an EX but the LX may be a different story. Does anyone know what signal the VTEC solenoid requires to open? I'm thinking if we could somehow duplicate that signal (hopefully it would be as simple as tapping a power wire) and then input our fake VTEC signal into where you would wire the VTEC signal from the ECU to the Emanage, I think the Emanage might think that VTEC is always on. Then we might be able to adjust the VTEC engagement point and the Emanage would hold that signal until whatever RPM we tell it to. You could use the Emanage's maps to adjust fuel when VTEC kicked in and the stock ECU wouldn't care because it would have no idea VTEC was even there. I don't know if this would work but I just bought a VTEC head so I'll probably be trying to rig something up in the next couple months................anyway.
4) I don't quite remember but I don't think there were any wiring differences.....don't quote me though.
5) Don't buy the Missing Link. The Emanage has the Boost Limiter Cut feature that will not let the map sensor output voltage go higher than what you tell it, thereby hiding boost from your stock ECU...........I think I have mine set to 2.95 volts but I don't remember.

Hope this helps out bud. Good Luck

That helps a ton, thanks a million, dude.
Can you elaborate a little on the voltage for me? How do you set it up? I know nothing about that setup.

Go into the support tool....

Go under settings....

Parameter settings....

Check the box for boost limiter cut setting....

Open up that table.....

enter 2.95 in the cells above the RPM level where your turbo starts to see boost on your boost gauge....

close table.....export data

Any definite answer on jumpers? Will the ex jumper setting work on a non vtec? Oh, and Drk01-there is a thread by madwheel on how to get the vtec engagement to work. In the emanage manual, they had the vtec wire input and output reversed. Check in the turbo faq for more info.

FYI, when I get all of my questions answered, I will be taking pics and writing up a DIY that is comprehensive and answers all emanage questions and covers vtec and non so be looking for that (I'll also be including very comprehensive wiring diagrams.)

The EX jumpers work. I have an LX and am using the EX jumper settings.

It's been awhile since I read that thread Madwheel made about the VTEC setting, but if I remember correctly a couple pages into the thread Madwheel still said he couldn't get VTEC to work.

Yeah, I've found that all of the vtec settings work properly on non vtec. I ended up running a cel due to a blown map sensor this weekend, all fixed now though. Thank goodness for helm's manual.
