Taking D17 EMS to a new level
We are toying with the notion of attempting to run a full standalone EMS like Haltech or TEC3 on a D17. Only problem, we do not have a D17 anymore to run it on. So, we may help the owner of a close by civic do it, so then we can offer it with the stage 3 turbo kit. Any thoughts, comments or ideas?

well i wish i lived in new york and you could use mine all you want. sounds like a good idea, but wouldn't you have to make a return fuel system and a pressure regulator to make it work right with our ecu?

dezod use the aem. I have it. hands down its the best thing you can do. It is so freaking awesome.no wiring no bull. easy to tune if you are good with that stuff. I have that, a wideaband 02, 3.5 bar map and lots of other mods and the thing never ever misses a beat. runs like a factory boosted car with no drivability issues at all. wire up a coolant guage though. AEM is like k pro for the D17 plus way more options.

Honestly Dezod, I wouldn't waste your efforts on the D17. I'd focus more on the K20, EJ20/257, 2JZ etc......I think you'll find more satisfaction with those as well as a more satisfying paycheck. Just a thought.

I know there is more satisfaction in the K20, EJ20....BUT.....I have a special spot for a turbo'd D17 in my heart because I used to own one. We have our hands in the works with K20 & 2JZ right now......

i installed a Tec-3 on an SRT4. It was a pretty simple install (as far as standalones go). I wired it in to where the stock computer could still see what was going on (and so it would run the guages), but i didnt allow it to actually control anything. Only bad thing was that the check engine light stayed on. But we actually got the car to idle at a normal RPM with 1600 cc injectors in it. And we made 530 whp.

AEM said last week that the release date for the 1030 EMS that will work with our multiplex (because it will be a piggyback style) has been pushed to at least middle fall or later.
yeah you can wire up the a/c switch on a separate cuircuit using the same switch. i dont have ac so i dont care. As far as the coolant gauge goes, i have no idea if its possible to use the factory one, i will be getting an autometer one to go in front of it. It does work fine though. The startup cal maps they supply will run the car, very richly for my car, but they do all the hard work for you. So many features make these units stand out among alot of others. Note that with any other standalone other than the 1030 you will lose those 2 funtions also. They told me that the 1030 was on the backburner now that there is at least an option out for everyone. the 1030 requires you to loop through the stock ECU for the switch and gauge which kinda sucks because there is already limited room back there. Hope this input helps
