Hey whats up guys. Well today I found out that one of my friends blew his head gasket. He's got a 2003 coupe with a T25 and he was running at 12PSI with the emanage and RSX injectors with no return line. I'm ready to install my turbo but I'm just waiting to receive my manifold and the intercooler pipes from Jethot coatings. I will be running a custom manifold with a stage 2 wheel T3 turbo. For fuel I'll be running the emanage, rsx type S injectors and I have the SLP return conversion kit on the way. The problem I'm having now is if I should go ahead with the turbo install. I really don't want to blow a head gasket . I told my friend that 12psi was going to be too much and something was going to happen soon and a week later he blows the gasket. He tuned the car himself with no wideband . I'm only looking to run 7-8psi max. I also have a AEM wideband and no he will not tune my car, I'm going to get it dyno tuned. I just need a few ideas from you guys on what I should do. I spent a lot of money on all of this stuff and right now I have no idea on what to do. I'm thinking of just selling everything and buying a different car, but at the end I love my civic. You guys think I should be fine. Thanks in advance.

I've heard our honda HG were not good enough to handle more than 11 psi but If you plan on keeping safe (7-8 psi ) there are no reason u should be afraid of blowing ur Hg. If you are planning more than 10 psi, IMO, a better Hg would be needed.

you should get a dual stage boost controller. Run 7-8 daily, and then 12 when you feel gitty, or have a pesky stop light encounter.
STL01Civic is right, tunning is key! Ur buddy tuned on a narrowband! Blah, i did as well, thought i was running 11s, then got a wideband and found i was in the 14s!!!! You should be safe at 11-12lbs if you tune at 11AFR IMO

Running lean is what causes headgaskets to blow. Don't get scared now. You have a tight setup and it sounds like you're doing everything right. Really, blowing a headgasket isn't that big of a deal. (IMO)

yeah, your friend was a retard to run 12psi on stock internals and HG. not to mention using a narrowband O2 and tuning it himself. if you run no more than 8psi and get it dyno tuned, you'll be fine. but remember, don't get on it all the time. even though its no more than 8psi, you can still break something putting your foot into it all the time. If you build it and run 8psi, you could do that with that. but not on stock :P

Your freind caused his own nightmare. Too much boost on a stock block, was probably running super lean and pinging left and right....The dentonation caused the HG to blow. Tuning off a narrowband is asking for problems.
Moral of the story:
Stay within safe boundaries of the D17 on a stock block. Tune with a reputable tuner and make sure it is off a wideband.

I am getting tuned thursday. I have to stock sensors (narrowband), and my car is getting wideband dynojet tuned. They use a sniffer to tell wether its rich or lean. This will tune properly, correct?? I am only running 5lbs, since I cant retard my ignition for now.
