make sure you let them know at least that it was run with a turbo, cause there will be more wear on that engine and otherwise thats not being honest.

wow, this thread was wh0red out
here is some things to think about to help in your decision.....
-k20 is a better base for mods....if you have money, then you can afford tons of mods or even boost for your swap.
-k20 is more reliable and will last you longer
-boosting d17 is cheaper, initially
-boosting d17 only takes a few days to install, swap takes much, much longer
-boosting d17 is fast and can beat a mildly modded type s
-boosting d17 does have traction problems and the amount of power for a built d17 is limited by the tranny, axles and no lsd.
-if you wanna get rid of your car, it is very easy to take off the turbo kit.

The swap was only tracked NA once, when it was stock w/ a TSX header making 184whp, it ran 13.5 @ 101
Currently the K20 has a NX Wet Nitrous kit installed on the car, it was used ONCE for a money race, the car ran 12.6 @ 113 (1.9 60') w/ a passenger & delayed shift into 4th.

Was the k20 owner an a3 or a2?

I like the horse. That smiley taking some bites of the horse makes me hungry. Back on topic. If you plan on keeping the car go for the swap when you get more cash later down the road add I/H/E, nitrous or turbo. If you don't plan on keeping it for a while go turbo.

I don't even know what I'm arguing about anymore. the topic keeps changing
i would have to recommend the k20a2 over any turboed d17. just like hawk said, 6 gears and 8000 rpms just spells out fun. I say this because, sure a turbo D17 running low 14s would be fun, but in the end, you did all that work, and yet you're still only slightly faster than a stock s2000 in a straight line? If you like turns, the turbo will probably cause a whole lot of torque steer. If you're going for "a big engine mod", you get a lot more for your money with a swap than when turboing it, and seems like it'd be a lot less maintenance in the end.
But to sum it all up, people don't realize the true potential of the k20a2, and how it performs in cars other than an RSX. Next car for me (in the summer), will be an EK hatch with a k20a2, and i know 100% that i'll be insanely happy.

well lets just remeber that hes' talking about the k20a3 or turbo @6psi. the k20a3 is a very cheap motor to find. I've found them for 800 -1000. and it would be more reliable, but band for your buck, turbo would make more power. so....
Power......Or.......... Reliability. your choice.

well, let's take a look ...
drivetofast put down 155 whp at 5 psi on the sf kit - upgraded turbo, exhaust, no cat ... I imagine it would be almost the same with a smaller turbo at 6 psi
k20a3 with i/e will put down almost the same power ...
starting adding more boltons (header, no cat, img, etc) and swap makes more pwr
start adding more boost and turbo makes about the same power ...
more than a certain amount of boost, building the engine is required, while there are tons more in upgrades that could be done ... same **** ...

id say go turbo...
for a couple reasons...
1. say you run 8lbs and pull slightly on a k20 i/h/e.....
for you to go a little faster is a lot easier and cheaper than the k20... all you need to do is say lower compression and run 10-11lbs....
2. if something blows, its a lot cheaper again to fix yours.....
3. turbo is the greatest feeling in a car
4. and say you put downt the same hp as the k20, i believe you will have more torque so its not quite the same...
and i have 300+whp and i dont have traction issues...
well only in 1st and part of second...
so just spend a little on traction and your good to go....

you have gsr motor........our trannies are **** and can't handle that amount of power.
As far as spending a little on traction............there is no lsd for our trannies. Supposedly, quaife's lsd for a d16 will fit.......but who is the first person to spend $1,000 to find out ?????????
