hey guys, i just needed to vent. i blew my motor on my way home from my girlfriends house tonight. I had a k20a2 in my 02 civic ec sedan. i was racing an srt-4 on the freeway and haging tough dead even so we both got off the freeway and he was like hey that is a badass ride and stuff so i punch after we get going again and when i try to shift from third to fourth, it goes into second and "boom" it blew. I am so pissed right now, i dont even know what to think. I feel like a complete moron. im not asking for simpathy i just feel like **** and i dont know what do. I can get a k20a3 for $400 and maybe if the head is not bad try a head swap but i dont know well see. I can also get a TSX k24 for $3500. I dont know, time is my biggest issue other than money so ill probobly end up with an SI motor but it will get me through for a while and i will probobly get another k20a2 or even a k20a eventually. thanks for listening

yeah, that sucks, sorry to hear it. BTW, how did you keep up with a srt4??? I dont believe that part, if you were boosted and swapped, Id believe that, but he probably was a good distance in front of you??

yea he pulled on me on the freeway about length from 70mph to about 140mph. he was yelling out the window when we got off the freeway about how sick my car was and ****. if i had cai i probobly could have beaten him. Members on clubrsx.com dyno with sri and then with cai and gain 8-10whp. that would have been all i needed.

4drcivic2k1, there is a big hole in the block just above the oil pan. I dont think its salvagable. I hope the head is ok though because i can get a k20a3 for $400 and i will try to head swap.

do not get a k20a3 block and a2 head ... many members have done this and it's not worth it, imo. a3 has lower comp pistons, unbalanced crank, shitty rods. if you can get an a2 block and head, do it ... there is a guy selling a block and head on k20a.org for 1500, iirc. I don't know what your budget is, but that's a pretty good deal. if you need something, I can try to get you something for cheap ...

As long as the head is OK its not that bad. There are alot of k20a2 headless blocks floating around for cheap because of k24 swaps. check around and do NOT use the k20a3 block it can't handle the revs.
