Does TSI let you keep A/C?

Im gonna be starting installation of my kit tonight, and I was wondering if the TSI kit lets you keep the A/C? I havent found any info on that, so anybody with the kit, if ya still have A/C, let me know. Im in Arizona, so I cant not have it. I could get custom piping if I have to, let me know. Thanks a lot!

Peace

Sorry with the bad news, but yes, you will have to take out the a/c because of the piping on the driver side. you might want to talk to, I think his name is Eternal_Blue_Vic, he's got out TSI kit, and he did some custom piping to keep his A/C.

I had to take mine out.

Let me know how it goes!

Yeah, i knew he did that custom to keep it. How old is your kit? They fixed fitment issues supposedly, but not to sure about the A/C. If its from the last month I believe, you have the newer one.

Anybody have the kit and keep A/C? please respond.

Thanks a lot!

EternalBlue. I know you'll check this thread out. How much did it cost you and how long did it take them to bend the piping? Like 4 or 5 hours? Probably more. Thanks!

Peace

I bought my kit in November. So unless they have made changes since then, I'd imagine the same fitting issues.

Was that the only issue you had? They said recently they fixed the problems, and it bolts up perfect now. I hope so, I HAVE to have my ac, no if's, and's or but's about it. In 120 degree weather, that would suck. Especially the time the car is sitting out there in the heat for 1.5 minutes, you get in and its 175 in the car, I swear.

Here is the post from my mechanic:

the manifold required grinding on the drivers side top and side corner. we took about a 1/4 inch out of the cast iron and its still a tight fit.

the alternator and AC heat sheild needed to be bent slightly to get enough room for the wastegate housing.

the AC system had to be removed as there was not enough room for the intercooler or oil cooler with the ac condencer where it was. also, the hotpipe to the intercooler went right where the ac compressor was. theres nothing in the instructions that say this kit is not to be used on a car quiped with AC. there simply is just no way that it can be made to work with AC.

the hotpipe (turbo to intercooler) also had to be trimed in several places to clear the downpipe and still make the angle to meet the u shaped charge pipe to the intercooler.

the oil pressure feed adapter didnt fit between the block and the intake manifold, and adtional 90 degree fitting had to be installed to make it work.

the washer bottle had to be moved up about an inch to make the charge pipes line up enough that they could actualy be conected with the short silicone couplers that they supplyed.

the upper charge pipe needed to be cut and exteded in order to reach the throttle body elbow.

the throttle body elbow needed to be trimed on the throttle body side in order to clear the hood.

the throttle body heater hoses needed to be extended because they did not fit after the injector plate was installed.

annnnnd....... the wireing... the main componenets are prity easy to figure out were they go, but there are no instructions for the wireing. the injector block box installed like a turbo timer so that wasnt too bad. other things like rpm signal was easy to find, but then the box has 4 brown wires and the diagram on the back of the box says to conect them to the injector. but... whitch injector? (s?) there are four wires, so i asuume each brown wire goes to one of the four wires from the two aux injectors.

we got everything installed two nights ago. at first there was a security fault and the car would not turn over. after we fixed that we cranked the motor for a few minuets to get the oil moving around into the new filter and oil cooler and turbo before we tryed to start the car. at that time the turbo timer function of the injector box was working. then we tryed starting the car and the car would start but die right away. we removed the wires that go to the map sensor and reset the ecu and clearded the code and it strated up and idled fine, but when the key was turned off, the car continued to run. and run.. and run. for 10 min it didnt turn off. we messed with the controller for some time changing the turbo timer valvues but it never turned off. we i ended up pulling the ecu fuse in the engine bay.

were still geting a check engine code witch turned out to be a ELD sensor. were replacing that tonight.

iv tryed calline TSI 3 times today. i get a AT&T message that says the number isnt in service. iv emailed them thismorning, no respoce.

as a busnessman, i would never recomend that anyone get this turbo kit. the very first thing im recomending to the customer is to get an e-manage.

there are some legality issues too with this kit... theres nothing that says this cit is CARB aproved, and by installing this kit you are removing your catilitic converter. witch is a prity hefty fine. some shops may not touch this kit for those reasons..

a follow up note on that post of mine... ended up that the injector box that came with the kit was desgined for a v6, so the rpm wouldnt read right. that was fixed after a week delay in geting the right box.

the fuel controller wouldnt respond to tuning adjustments, so after geting another phone number for tsi from the place phil got his turbo kit, i called tsi. spoke to jason i beleve. he was nice guy, direct awnsers. he informed me that the fuel box should be wired so that one of the four brown wires is all that needs to go to the injector block. the other three are not used. that one brown wire y's to each black wire on each injector pigtail. the red wires goes directly to constant power.... no inline fuse was supplyed with the kit.

Thanks. I read your older post with all that info in it. Some people had no fitment issues at all, so lets hope mine works good. The manifold is already shaved, so that doesnt need to be done. I received the turbo, manifold and wastegate today. I have to be home tomorrow to sign for the rest. How small is the IC that comes with the kit, does anybody know? I am curious Like really small?

I think I'll hook it up how it comes for now. THan in a month or two when its hot as hell, Im going to have some custom pipes and probably a new exhaust. Im getting a new one next week after the install, but I will be getting a better exhaust than Midas has. I need some mandrel bent pipes now. Ill get like a 3" from midas to make up for the crinks in it, but than Ill get a 2.5" mandrel bent piping I believe.

Midas, lifetime exhaust, brakes, and everything. Its crazy. Their just gonna redo it for free with a new muffler

The only thing i've seen ppl do custom pipings,, Is if they wanted the intercooler pipes leaving the same direction from where they came in........
Or another time. is when they want the Blow Of Valve be up on top instead of under the Battery,.

It all fits, still got A/C, and idles niiiiice. Driving is another story, rich/lean/rich/lean. But hopefully we'll get it to just be a little rich today. If anybody has settings they want to PM Me that would be great. For the TSI kit/fuel system/ICU only, nothing else. Thanks a lot.

Im trying EternalBlueVics in just a few minutes.

Ill let ya all know how it runs. But the TSI kit was installed in about 25-30 hours with 3 people working on it. There are some fitment issues, but all can be worked out, and I DO HAVE A/C. The TSI kit does absolutly without a doubt let you keep A/C. If you dont keep it, you installed it wrong. The piping clears it pretty nice. Just have to twist tie the 2nd charge pipe after the IC away so it doesnt hit the pulley. and shaving a little of the manifold like everybody says.

Peace

so my ICU is busted. It resets the settingd like half the time, the turbo timer doesnt work half the time, and you can only see half the screen. They shipped me another one today. They were very helpful people and didnt even need to receive the busted one yet. I have 30 days to send it back, but will in a day or two. Nice people, nice kit. Very satisfied.

Last night I hit 7lbs, than it leaned out,s o I let off the gas and shifted. Went to 13lbs of boost, and shut off my car. It wouldnt start for like 20 minutes. i was sh**ting a brick. But luckily my car was just rich as hell, so it wouldnt start or idle. We took fuel out and it started right up/ I got an exhaust and high flow cat put on today, so its nice and quiet, and a nice spooling sound, BUT NO BOOST! I cant hook up the pipe to the IM until I get the new ICU. So I have a pipe and filter (short ram basically) on my IM, so Ill be fine for now. No worries, still hear a nice spool and little bit of the BOV. It is loud as hell though at like 2-3 lbs. I love the kit!!!

Dont let the install get you down anybody. Have a couple friends who are good at figuring stuff out with you, and helping install it. And you'll have only a couple probs that will get worked out ina weekend. Also need to buy one different pipe up by the drivers side tire. You cant turn right very far or you hit the pipe into the pulley. But its still all good.

Hey 2K1Civic17, I got my kit yesterday and it didn't come witha fuel pressure regulator. I called UltraRev.com (where I got it from). The guy, Ray, who has been very helpful by the way, called Turbo Specialties. They said that with my engine, a fuel pressure regulator is not needed because of something or another.

I need to know if you installed yours with or without one before I go have it installed. You can email me at Daemones6@aol.com

I tried thos settings, it ran super super super lean. it was like 30 degrees out, I swear. Cold in AZ. But I also tried his settings, and it was much better to start from. I am hoping crewchief sends me his settnigs so I can try those out. Either way monday or tuesday I am getting tuned hopefully. Cash is no prob, just getting in and making time. I will post my settings afterwards
