Vtec and boosting?

I have a 2001 dx, and i swapped the enigine for a vtec! My dad did the swap while i'm stuck here in Iraq! the thing is he said he didnt have to switch my ecu.... is that right? is it even possible? I wanna make sure this wont be a big problem before I install my SF turbo kit! Thanx!

I think Xproductions (I think that's his username) used a VAFC to control VTEC on an LX ECU/EX head.

You mean VAFC II???
I don't think VAFC works on our engine.

an ex engine will run perfectly on a dx ecu, its just that the low- hi change over won't engage. im running an ex computer on a dx ecu with a vafcII, and the change over works fine.

my dad, called honda and they said all 01 up civics are vtec.... that can't be right? (and for your info i bombed my last engine)... and yes I already have my SF kit! So saying it's vtec, but i chose to use my current ecu, will I really lose all that much power considering I'm boosting?

this is just crazy.

DX and LX dont have Vtec. You can use a DX or LX bottom, with an EX head and have Vtec, which dont mean much. You can use your old ECU as long as you get a VAFCII. So you can set the Vtec engagement or something. It is probably like your running the same motor right now, and it wont feel much different after you get a VAFC II. You can get an EX ECU, but have to get your keys reflashed. Hopefully you understand all this.
