Hey guys, my buddys got a 1996 civic dx (non vtec) that he wants to put a 2000 civic ex motor w/ vtec in. They are both D16's but the local performance shop keeps d*cking him around saying that the vtec wiring is a bitch and want to charge him up the a** Any comments, because we know we can put the engine in, but we both have never had to wire vtec, and dont know how hard it is? PS. will he need a new ecu for this engine, or can he get a flash?

yes you will need an ecu for that engine anyways after you get the ecu it shouldn't be that hard

its easy get an ecu off ebay for like $60 and you have to run 3 wires to your ecu plug from your engine bay.

I think i found the problem. The engine has to be 1998 or older because they changed the wiring harness the next year. Thanks guys
