Turbo w/VTEC or Turbo w/o VTEC

Been reading all the information up and down and haven't found anything relavant to what I am about to ask.

I have a non vtec d17 motor and am possibly considering a turbo setup. Since reading an article on here comparing the D17A1, D17A2 EX Vtec and D17A2 HX Vtec, it seems to me there isn't much power difference other than 12 hp between the vtec and non-vtec motors (excluding the hx). How big of a difference will that make when you start turbo'ing the motors? Will having the vtec capability give you that much more of a hp gain over the non vtec motor when doing a turbo app?

thanks for any info

won't be much gain, but non-vtec motors have lower compression which is better for F/I.

in the end the vtec motor will produce more power, but even so, sleeve the lx non vtec and just swap in a head, should be cheaper than swapping the whole motor

OR - turbo the LX, swap the tranny with an EX tranny (better gearing), put a better cam in so it would essentially be like an EX - whalla, better setup!

I'm with C2i0v0i1C, sleeve the lx and get a Vtec head. The lower compression pistons in the lx and dx only really help when you're running alot of boost (9psi+)

Lx bottom end w/ Vtec head and ex trans........that'd be a nice setup
