Nitrous or Turbo???
Nitrous or Turbo???
Here is the issue: I am graduating college in one week and am going to start a decent job. I have been tossing the idea of boosting my car around for a while now. If I get a turbo I would spend around 4k and boost 8psi. The more that I think about it the more I relize $4000 is a lot of money. Should I just spend 600 and get a wet nitrous kit insted or am I always going to wish I had a turbo. If I did save the money I could buy a house in the summer and make a wise investment. Then sometime down the road sell my car and get evo or a s2000. Or I could just have fun now and get a turbo.
What so you guys think that I should do???

don't do it
I am in the same boat right now that u will be in......in a couple yrs. Towards the end of college, i bought my civic cuz i needed a car and was broke. I am making decent money, so i started modding. Got a turbo, had fun, but now i am bored. My need for speed is too great for my car.
My car is a daily driver and i cannot afford to swap or do anything else. Right now, i am seriously contemplating on selling and opting for the '05 STi or Evo MR.
If honestly you plan on getting a better car in a couple yrs, then just enjoy your 35mpg and save up........cuz insurance and mods will be alot more.

I vote for nitrous. You don't have to just stop modding after nitrous. There are still alot of other things you can mod if your need for speed hasn't been met and if it has, you've only spent $600.
Go nitrous, I'll tell you why. Its great for a daily driver, lower maintenance more reliable (dont have to worry about busted head gaskets and unwanted down time). Definitely cheaper if you ask me because I wouldve had to spend way more to get where I am right now in the 1/4numbers if I were boosted. I still havent spent near as much as I would if I went turbo. Easy low 14 second car if not 13s with some tuning. PLus you can always take it and install it in any import if you buy another car. If you wanna spend the big bucks, invest in a swap. Thats what I plan to do later on.

I've been contemplating the same thing lately. Face it, if you get a faster car, insurance will go up. Why not just keep you car a little longer, spray it and be better off. Nitrous is better I've seen because it does not put the engine under stress constantly like a turbo does, it is a heck of a lot cheaper, and it is faster. It will not blow your engine like everyone says if you use it properly. It is essentially the same principal in physics as a turbo, more air, more fuel, more efficient and powerful conbustion.

yeah, i might just listen to u guys and get nitrous. spending about 4 k for the turbo and even more for tuning is unthinkable. oh yeah, ty for showing all the past boosters selling their kits and getting fster cars.

Don't mislead the poor member...boost is entirely throttle dependent, and doesn't put nearly as much stress on the engine if properly tuned/maintained...I can drive my turbo car all day long without boosting and have it be as reliable as ever, or I can boost all day and have it be reliable too
Plus theres just a feeling of accomplishment if you run turbo...IMO at least...plus ya know with a turbo that you can run all day long in boost without having to refill the bottle :]

You also dont own a 7th gen civic. First of all, its way expensive to get, what...200+ HP just to turn around and sell it it for way less than what you put in after all the tuning? Also, if nitrous puts so much stress on our little engines then howcome you cant find any members on this board that have blown a head gasket or thrown a rod while using it? You should not be the one misleading members by speaking on the behalf of civic owners when you dont drive a 7th gen and by not mentioning the large amount downtime that so many other boosted 7th gen owners have had to endure.
