do i have ANY options?...

ok, i have an an automatic '03 EX sedan and last night on the way back from KFC, my tranny $hit out on me...just revs like it's in neutral no matter where the selector is...and even when it's in Park, it just rolls like it's in Neutral...so anyway, here's my question:

do i have any feasible options for engine/transmission upgrades?...i know there quite a few options (K20s and K24s), but are any of them really worth dropping into my car with an automatic transmission?...

i know i could dump a ton of money into a manual swap, new car, etc, but i'd really rather not...but i have about $7400 to play with, so any ideas would greatly appreciated...thanks alot...

2003 ? Dont you have warranty on the tranny?
Repair it under warranty and get a turbo kit. At least 150 whp & less issues with cops. This is your another option.

Damn, I wish I had $7400 to just play around with. With that money, you could probably do a complete K20A2 swap with tranny and axles.

nope, no warranty...i bought the car with 15 miles on it back in February of 2003, but i already have a little over 42,000 miles on it, and the warranty expired at 36,000 miles ...and i REALLY REALLY REALLY want a turbo, i'm just waiting for a kit other than SF's...and if i get a K20A2 in the meantime, that should hold me...

i got a flat tire = bought new 19"s...fat chick sat on my hood = went carbon fiber hood shopping...dented front bumper = Buddy Club 2 kit on the way...

i don't mind spending money, as long as it's justified...so a busted tranny = K20A2 ...perfect logic to me!

umm, yeah...about that...i mentioned that this was my first FWD vehicle...it's also my first automatic vehicle...and being a big fan of smoky burnouts, i tried to get a few out of my little 1.7, revving to about 6800, then not-very-wisely dropping into Drive from Neutral...turns out that my car didn't like that as much as i did, and the only thing that burnt out was my tranny ...

i know it might not sound like the brightest idea, but if i'm going to do the swap, i can save a few hundred bucks by just swapping now instead of after a new transmission...and i don't normally have a few thousand dollars laying around, i just received a very well-timed bonus, so if i don't do this now, it'll probably never get done......

i said go for the swap.
If you have only 7400 saved up.
I would recommand save up a little more and do a manual conversion as well (I think it is somwhere ~9500 <---for my area).
It is easier when everything is off/out of the car.
