diy nitrous bottle warmer
ok so, as some of you know i just recently purchased and installed my 50shot nitrous kit (although i dont have it in its permanent configuration yet) and when i did my first spray i noticed that it wasn't quite as much power as i was expecting. Because i had read the diy on the install i knew that the bottle warmer made a big difference but they are somewhat expensive (120 from the manufacturer, 75 from cold fusion) so i decided to try and make one on my own. I had wondered if anyone had tried anything similar so i searched google for "diy nitrous bottle heater" and came up with this But honestly, who the hell wants a whole damn electric blanket and inverter in their trunk? So i decided to see if i could find a 12vdc heating pad. I found a small black one on sale for $12.00 at wal-mart and bought two light duty cargo straps for $6.00. I then wrapped the warmer (which incidently has a massage function if i ever want to show my bottle some love) around the bottle and strapped it down. voila, diy nitrous heater for <$20 it has a built in plug for a cigarette lighter which i will cut off and direct connect to ground and power at a later time.
so, what do you guys think?
PS: will post pics when i get a chance

I've heard of that too, but damn who wants their bottle char-broiled? I know I dont want any burn marks on my bottle.

Thats why they put safety valves on the bottles. Man its so iritating to watch people post about stuff they know absolutely nothing about. BTW, I've heard that story before. Thats like one of those things I think you call an Urban Legend?

Well if there is a safety valve on ALL bottles then how did this happen? Also, how did the disregard of following instructions play a factor in this happening? If you have pictures please post or send them to me via email please. I would love to see.

OK I stand corrected once again and I do sincerely apologize for assuming you were full of ****. I was wrong. lol I am now the one who is looking like an a$$, but thats ok. I dont mind admitting when I am wrong. There are a lot of people who post stuff that they know nothing about. I though you were one of them and I often times dont believe anything until I see it for myself anyway. So for that I'm sorry. You have to admit that the story sounds very far fetched. That guy is a total idiot IMO. I wouldnt be suprised if he hasnt been compensated yet in any way for his damage and stupidity. BTW thanks for the link that was pretty interesting.
LOL That really sucks for that guy, but it wouldve never happened if he had just followed the instructions. Thats one thing about nitrous I always try to tell people to the utmost extent. Follow the instructions it is so crucial, its no joke.

otherwise, this is not a DIY, this is a LAZY mans bottle warmer, and by far makes ur car rice as hell, nitrous is not rice, but the sunbeam king size electric blanket cancels that and makes it rice

actually, this bottle warmer is not rice at all. it fits perfectly and is a nice black color. it also has cushioning which insulates the bottle as well. in addition it also fits under the bottle cover perfectly. if you want to waste your cash, go ahead.

Unfortunately, if he was dumb enough to leave it on for hours like that and it exploded while he was in the car I think could be dead.

Show me that you can reach the proper 1000 PSI in the bottle by using it and I'd believe it....
Until I see it in person, sounds like a complete waste since a NOS (the company, not nawwwws) bottle warmer is cheap and works the way it should with relays and thermostat...
The torch thing is pretty much for people that have been using it for years and know exactly how warm the bottle should be.... If you don't, you won't be maximizing your power...

lol well, based on the response here i guess this isn't the most popular idea to ever come along but who knows, maybe it will work. at least its better than an electric blanket imho.
